A very delayed goodbye to September 2025 👋

I’ve been super busy with work and haven’t stayed on top of posting on social media but I do enjoy these little monthly recaps. So here are some of my highlights

🎶 I went along to a choir taster session at my local arts centre and had a lovely time. Singing in a choir with others is definitely a mood booster. Especially when the song choice is a mash up of Abba and Madonna 😆

🎸I enjoyed lots of other music gigs this month too. Live music is definitely my number 1 hobby it seems, especially when an espresso martini is involved 😌

⚽️ My son was back to playing in goal with his football team which means my weekends of being a football Mum in a dry robe is very much in full swing now

🎓My daughter & her boyfriend started university.. it’s been very strange not having her at home but I’m excited to go and visit her soon and as you’ll see from the 2nd to last slide, we’ve had a lot of fun on FaceTime with her.

💻I managed to squeeze in a bit of extra CPD on group supervision training. This seems to be a growing area of my work lately and it’s really interesting and dynamic to facilitate groups in this way.

🎉 I enjoyed a very special 50th Birthday party for one of my good friends!

🐾 I got to doggy sit this beautiful whippet named Winston and you’ll find out why in Octobers recap 🤫

Thanks for reading x

A late goodbye to August 2025 👋

Here were some of my highlights ✨

🎶🎤🎃 Watching two of my favourite bands (the Smashing Pumpkins and Skunk Anansie)

🍻Working behind the bar for Busted and Madness at a local music summer series festival (sometimes it’s nice to change things up a bit with work 🤷‍♀️)

☀️Summer chilling on the beautiful pebbly beach at Aldeburgh

🎠Street fair fun

🐶Having cuddles with my Mums new puppy, Elsie

🐚 A pool of pebbles in an amazing shop we visited in the town of Holmfirth

🛁The loveliest hot tub at our holiday cottage, perfect to unwind in after all those hilly walks

🏔️ The stunning views of the Peak District

Back to school nerves? 😨📚

It’s entirely normal!

Here are a few coping tips to share with your child.

📢 And remember to be kind to yourself too! It’s so hard to see our children struggle but they need you to be strong and compassionate for them.

You’ve both got this 💪🧡

This is very true!!

Anger and Rage are such a huge and necessary part of the healing process but it can also be so scary if you have no one else to witness and contain it for you ❤️‍🔥

If you are legitimately angry and the people around you are invalidating it then they were probably part of the initial problem anyway 🙄😠

Your anger is not the enemy here, it is the part that loves you the most! ❤️

*Trigger Warning* ⚠️

Good luck to all the young people receiving their GCSE results tomorrow morning. I know you probably hear it all the time, but please remember that your grades now don’t need to determine your path for life.

Sometimes we need to take ourselves on a journey before we can re arrange our lives to become the person we were always meant to be.

My school experience was traumatic.

I was living with domestic abuse at home and developed an anxious attachment to my Mum, which resulted in school phobia.

My teachers persistently ignored me or told me off for being late or absent. I was even made to stand up in front of the entire school and shamed for my low attendance in middle school.

I spent more time in the medical room with headaches, sickness and stomach pains than lessons and was persistently told that I was over reacting.

In secondary school, I used to smuggle in water bottles filled with alcohol just to try to numb my chronic embarrassment and fear of being seen.

I felt truly broken and stupid for most of my school years.

In year 11 I developed chronic fatigue syndrome and had a su***de attempt. My body and mind had finally had enough.

I struggled through my GCSE’s and got very average results but still there was a tiny voice inside that told me to keep trying.

I wanted to take Psychology as an A- Level but my teachers wouldn’t allow it. They told me that I wasn’t intelligent enough so I gave up.

It wasn’t until I reached the age of 29 that I finally found the reason for my journey and made the first steps towards becoming who I truly am.

I applied to University, studied counselling and now I have the best job in the world. I get to help children and young people just like me and I have gone on to supervise and train other professionals on the devastating impact of childhood trauma.

You may not know where your life is going now and that’s okay. All you need to do is stay true to yourself and trust your process.

Goodbye July 2025 👋

I’ll be honest… I’m not sure where that time went?! I think it was my busiest work month to date and I can tell due to the lack of social media posts 🫣.

Still managed to get a few pictures to sum it up though.

Delivered another new workshop to foster carers, celebrated a very special big birthday for my step dad and managed to get a picture with all my siblings in it! Matty got a new motorbike plaque for his stone and we spent an entire evening completing a 1000 piece Lego puzzle which is now framed and proudly displayed in my living room ☺️.

There was also plenty of food and music.. a constant in my monthly recaps it seems.

Final pic.. A reminder to look out for those green flags in people 💚
