This week marks Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week, and we’re supporting NHS England’s campaign to raise awareness of Sexual Assault Referral Centres (SARCs).
SARCs provide specialist, confidential, 24/7 care for anyone who has been r***d, sexually assaulted, or abused. They offer medical support, crisis care, safeguarding advice, and guidance on reporting options.

For generations, many of us were taught to “keep a stiff upper lip” to stay quiet, stay strong, and carry on, no matter how heavy things felt. But silence doesn’t heal. Connection does.
The BACP’s No More Stiff Upper Lip campaign www.NoMoreStiffUpperLip.co.uk encourages everyone to challenge outdated ideas about emotional strength and to recognise the power of speaking openly about mental health. Whether it’s reaching out to a friend, talking to a counsellor, or simply admitting you’re struggling, every step toward openness makes a difference. Let’s support each other and create a culture where asking for help is seen as strength, not failure.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome Lewis Atkinson, MP for Sunderland Central, and Stephen Lewis Elms, councillor for the Hendon ward. Their visit gave us a great chance to share our recent successes, discuss the challenges we’re working through, and highlight the important work we’re doing across Sunderland.
A huge thank‑you to Lewis and Stephen for taking the time to come and see us we truly appreciate the support.
