* UPDATE ADDED ABOUT SNAILS*
Dear wildlife and nature supporters,
Following recent frequent non-stop night time rain across London and further, there are many earth worms that become stranded on the pavements. If you see a stranded worm or snail on the pavement pick them up with a leaf and place it over a garden wall.
Worms can feel suffering according to new research and can live for up to 10 years.
NOTE ABOUT SNAILS
Picking up snails can do more harm than good if done the wrong way.
When relocating a snail, do so by gently pushing him forward or gently tapping on his hut, so that he withdraws himself into it. If you pull on it and you feel resistance, the membrane that connects him to his house tears. It makes him curl and contract in terrible pain and it sentences him to death within days.
A snail's life expectancy is 3 to 10 years.
A life is a life, big or small, so if we have a chance to save one today, we can still be mini heroes for that worm or snail and make the world a kinder place for all of us :)
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
