The UK 🇬🇧 offers some spectacular beaches & beautiful hikes to go on! What a beautiful area to go explore! Rented a car off Turo, took a road trip to Durdle Door, where there was plenty parking space to leave your car for the day, for free, while you go hike along the cliffs and enjoy some time at Man O’War beach & Lulworth Cove! I was even brave enough to swim, the water was crystal clear and really did enjoy my swim! :)
“Durdle Door is probably the most famous stone arch anywhere in the world. It was created when the sea pierced through the Portland limestone around 10,000 years ago.”
There are lovely places to stay or even camp out along the Jurassic coastline. However, I stayed in Bournemouth which was only a 40 min drive from Durdle door, as I wanted to explore around there & accommodation was more affordable! Glad I got to see that area too, Bournemouth beach is beautiful! I also ventured out to a very cute little town, Swanage & went to Studland beach over there where you have a great viewpoint of Old Harry’s rocks & can see Isle of Wight in the distance.
“In Swanage, history is evident everywhere you look. From the historical landmarks and buildings to the coastal path and fascinating fossils. While fishing is likely the town’s oldest industry, quarrying has been important to the town and the local area since at least the 1st century AD.
In AD 878 a great naval battle took place off Swanage in which King Alfred defeated a fleet of Danish ships.”
"Old Harry Rocks are three chalk formations, including a stack and a stump, located at Handfast Point, on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset, at the southern end of Studland Bay. They are part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
The name Old Harry actually refers to the single stack of chalk standing furthest out to sea. Until 1896 there was another stack known as Old Harry’s Wife, but erosion caused her to tumble into the sea, leaving just a stump.
Thousands of years ago, Old Harry and The Needles (another chalk rock formation) on the Isle of Wight were linked by a line of chalk hills that eroded away during the last ice age.”
Highly recommend venturing out to this beautiful area! ♥️🇬🇧 @ jurrasic coast
