Remembrance Sunday 2025

Today, the team from South Wales Medical Services had the honour of supporting several local Remembrance Day parades across Neath Port Talbot.

Company Director Simon proudly watched his son march in the Neath parade, while Carl and Becky provided medical cover in Pontardawe with AM01, our marked Mercedes ambulance. Later in the morning, Simon and Gareth attended the Briton Ferry parade in our marked stretcher Land Rover, ensuring that all attendees could gather safely to pay their respects.

Remembrance Sunday is a time for reflection — a solemn occasion to honour the courage, service, and sacrifice of those who have given so much in defence of our freedom. Each year, we are deeply humbled to be asked to assist at these events, standing alongside our communities as we remember those who served, those who fell, and those who continue to serve today.

“At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.” 🌹

🌹 Remembrance Day – 11:11

At the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, we stop.
For two minutes, the world falls still — sirens fade, engines quiet, voices hush — and in that silence, we remember.

As an Emergency Medical Technician in the ambulance service, I’m reminded that courage doesn’t always wear the same uniform. Whether on the battlefield or in the back of an ambulance, service is born from the same heart — the will to protect others, even when it costs us.

Today, as the clock strikes eleven, I think of those who ran toward danger so others might live. Of the medics who tended the wounded in the mud and smoke of war. Of those who never came home, and those who did — carrying invisible scars.

Their bravery echoes in every act of service we perform today — in every call answered, every life saved, every silent moment held for those who gave everything.

We will remember them.
We must remember them.

🕊️ Poem: “The Silence Between Sirens”

In the hush between the sirens,
Where breath and memory meet,
We stand in still reflection,
On poppy fields and streets.

The fallen whisper softly,
Through static, rain, and flame,
“Hold fast to love and kindness —
And say aloud our names.”

We walk where they once hurried,
To battle or to save,
Different wars, one purpose,
To serve, to heal, to brave.

And when the silence settles,
At the hour marked eleven,
Their spirits stand beside us still,
Our heroes — home in heaven.

At 11:11, take a breath. Remember. Honour. Continue the service they began.
We will remember them. 🌹

🇬🇧 Lest We Forget 🇬🇧

This weekend, South Wales Medical Services is deeply honoured to once again provide medical cover and professional staff for both the Pontardawe and Briton Ferry Remembrance Parades.

Since the day our company was founded, we have been proud to support these remembrance events every year, standing alongside our communities to ensure that all who gather to honour the fallen can do so safely and with dignity.

Remembrance Sunday holds a profound place in our hearts — a time when the nation unites to pay tribute to those who served and sacrificed in conflicts past and present.
It marks the anniversary of the end of the First World War — the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918 — a moment that symbolises peace, courage, and remembrance.

As a visible sign of our respect, our vehicles proudly display a symbol of remembrance, in tribute to the bravery, sacrifice, and enduring spirit of our Armed Forces and all who continue to serve.

We are honoured to play our part in these deeply meaningful events and to continue our tradition of service to the people of South Wales.

We will remember them. 🌺

🎆🔥 BONFIRE NIGHT IS HERE – LET’S KEEP IT LIT (SAFELY)! 🔥🎆

Remember, 5th November isn’t just about fireworks and toffee apples… it’s about avoiding a surprise trip in our shiny ambulance 🚑😅

💥 A bit of history:
In 1605, Guy Fawkes literally played with fire and lost. Don’t be like Guy. Keep your fireworks on the ground, not in your hands! 🧨

💉 A bit of medicine:
Every year we see:
• Burns (because “I thought it was out!” 🩹)
• Smoke inhalation (because “I just leaned a bit too close…” 😮‍💨)
• Trips and falls (because “It was dark and I was carrying 4 sparklers!” 🌌)

👩‍⚕️ Top EMT Tips from South Wales Medical Services:
1️⃣ Keep fireworks at arm’s length — and we mean the unlit kind.
2️⃣ Keep a bucket of water or sand nearby (bonus points if you also have a first aid kit 😉).
3️⃣ Supervise kids with sparklers — they burn hotter than a blowtorch!
4️⃣ Pets hate fireworks, so give them a comfy, quiet space indoors.
5️⃣ If you do get a burn, cool it with running water for at least 20 minutes — not butter, not toothpaste, not your nan’s secret cure! 🧊

🎯 YOUR TURN!

💬 What’s your best Bonfire Night memory or safety tip?
🔥 Funniest firework fail? (Keep it PG — we’re professionals… mostly 😅)

Stay safe, stay bright, and remember — we’d rather see your selfies than your singed eyebrows! 📸✨

🎃 Fright Night 2025 – That’s a Wrap! 👻
Our amazing team has officially survived another spook-tacular Fright Night season — no ghosts, ghouls, or jump scares can stop us! 💪

Now that the screams have faded, it’s time to pack away the fake blood, hang up the cobwebs… and get ready to defrost Mariah Carey 🎤❄️ because you know what’s coming next…

✨ Luminate Margam Park, we’re coming for you! ✨
Our team is swapping pumpkins for fairy lights and first aid kits for festive cheer (well, mostly 😉).

Big thank you to everyone who made Fright Night a scream — see you all glowing and glittering at Luminate Margam Park! 🌟

🎃 Halloween’s over… and just like that, we’ve traded ghosts for goblins of gravy and monsters for mince pies!

The pumpkins are out, the fairy lights are in — and the South Wales Medical Services team is officially on 🎅 Christmas Countdown Duty 🎅 (yes, we’ve already started arguing about when it’s acceptable to play Mariah Carey on shift).

Whether it’s Santa’s sleigh breaking down on the M4, or an elf slipping on ice at the workshop, we’ve got it covered! 🚑✨

Let’s make this festive season merry, bright, and accident-free (please… we’re begging you).

📢 Public Service Announcement:

If you see a large bear responding to emergencies today — don’t panic!
It’s just Carl the medic testing his new “tactical disguise.”

🐻 Apparently, it’s bear-y effective for scene safety.

Drop your best bear pun below — winner gets to tell Carl to take the head off next

🎃💀 THE RESULTS ARE IN — AND DRACULA, YOU’RE GROUNDED! 💀🎃

Well done to everyone who joined in our “Spot the Spooky Safety Slip!” game — we’ve had more guesses than sweets left in the office (and that’s saying something 🍫😂).

And the correct answer was… 🥁

👉 1️⃣ Dracula strutting down the road in all black with no torch or reflector!
Because nothing says “immortal vampire” like ignoring basic road safety. 🧛‍♂️🚫
Honestly, mate, even the zombies had better visibility.

Massive shoutout to Antony Henson for getting it right first! 🎉👏
(You officially have more common sense than Count Dracula and at least three of our staff after night shifts.) 😅

A huge thank you to everyone who came to see us at Margam Country Park’s Scream Time and Spooky Time this Halloween weekend!
Our crews had a frightfully good time — between keeping you all safe, patching up the odd scrape, and pretending not to scream louder than the public. 💚🚑

Remember:
🧟‍♀️ Stay spooky, not silly.
🎃 Be safe, be seen.
🧛‍♂️ And if you feel faint in a haunted maze… please try not to fall into the actor — they scare easily too.

From all of us at South Wales Medical Services,
thank you for a wickedly fun Halloween — we’ll see you next year for more screams, safety, and probably more caffeine than is medically advisable. ☕💀

🎃💀 HALLOWEEN IS HERE — AND WE’RE OUT HAUNTING (PROFESSIONALLY)! 💀🎃

If you hear distant screams echoing through the night tonight — don’t panic, it’s not a ghost… it’s just the crowd at Margam Country Park’s Scream Time and Spooky Time! 😱🏰

Our fearless (ish) crews from South Wales Medical Services are onsite all weekend — keeping the fright night fun, safe, and just the right amount of scream-inducing. 🚑💚

👻 What’s Going On at Margam?
🕸️ Scream Time – strictly for the brave (and over 15s). Think dark corridors, jump scares, creepy clowns, and the occasional banshee that might make even our medics reconsider their career choices. 😬
🕯️ Spooky Time – a family-friendly fright fest, packed with pumpkins, costumes, and the kind of ghosts that say “boo” instead of “boo-hoo-you’re-in-trouble.”

We’re there in the shadows (not those shadows), ready to help with everything from fainting fits to “I thought that zombie was real” moments.

🕯️ Spooky History Lesson (Because We’re Educational Too):
Halloween started over 2,000 years ago with the Celtic festival of Samhain, when people thought the veil between the living and the dead was at its thinnest.
Back then they wore animal skins to ward off spirits — these days we just wear £10 Amazon costumes that ward off fashion sense. 💀

🩺 Terrifying Medical Fact!
Did you know the human body can technically produce its own glow in the dark? 😳
It’s called bioluminescence — but don’t get too excited! We can’t actually see it because it’s about 1,000 times too faint for human eyes.
So if you think you’re glowing tonight… it’s probably just the UV lights from the haunted maze (or the three Jägerbombs you had before getting there). 🍹✨

🎯 GAME TIME – SPOT THE SPOOKY SAFETY SLIP!
Right then, detectives — one of these Halloween scenes is scarier than the rest. Which one’s the safety nightmare? 👇

1️⃣ Dracula strutting down the road in all black — no torch, no reflector, just pure darkness and bad decisions.
2️⃣ A zombie carrying a glow stick and crossing safely.
3️⃣ A witch carving a pumpkin with a child-safe knife (and a cheeky glass of prosecco).

Drop your answer (1, 2, or 3) below! We’ll reveal the correct one later tonight — and the fastest right answer wins a glorious shoutout from our team (and eternal Halloween bragging rights 🏆).

💚 Remember:
Keep it spooky, not silly.
Be seen, not scream(ed at).
And if your mate says “Don’t worry, I’ve done this before” — that’s your cue to call us in advance. 😂

Have a fang-tastic night from all of us at South Wales Medical Services!
We’ll be haunting Margam (professionally, of course) all weekend long! 🚑🎃
