Wonderfest Cardiff was a one-of-a-kind day!

Filled with fun, activities, stalls from amazing organisations and good vibes, it was an event not to be missed.

We want to thank all those who took part and made the day that much more special 🙏🏼

Power-Up, along with young people, got to meet people like Anna Brychan (Plaid Cymru Candidate) and .

Power-Up also got to reveal their brand new manifesto in relation to young people's mental health 😍

It was truly a day full of Wonder and the fun doesn't stop there!

Swansea Wonderfest is fast approaching on Sunday, 21st of September at the National Waterfront Museum from 12PM-4PM!

We can't wait to see you all at our fabulous Wonderfest 2024 event in Cardiff tomorrow, Saturday 7 September. Lots of fun activities including circus skills, live music, face painting, DJs and much more - plus our gorgeous therapy dogs will be looking forward to some well deserved attention! 🐾🐾

Ready for our Power Up residential, time to reflect with young people on the Power Up project so far and lots of time for relaxation and connection! The Power up project is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund Mind Our Future grant, we are working with young people to lead on developing their ideas for a new wellbeing service in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan which also includes influencing the mental health landscape locally and wider in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

Our project for young people, Platfform4yp now has a Content Creator Pack - this talks through all the options available to create content to be shared on the website platfform4yp.org

Our content helps young people in lots of ways:

🤩 It can help young people to realise they are not on their own.
🤩 By sharing what has helped them, they can inspire other young people to try new strategies to support their wellbeing.
🤩 Sharing your healing story can be incredibly cathartic - it might help you remember just how far you’ve come, and serve as further support if you ever need it in the future.

Living in a world where it is safe to be our authentic selves is fundamental to our mental health.

Acceptance, understanding & the freedom to live life on our own terms is essential to our wellbeing and for some people coming out is part of this journey.

How you define your sexuality or gender is a personal choice and one we celebrate whatever you choose to do.

Our young people’s project Platfform4yp has a variety of perspectives from people who found coming out an empowering experience to people who do not feel the need to define their identity at all.

Our mental health is influenced by our circumstances – having safe housing, fair work, being able to afford to buy food and pay the bills, and having supportive networks and communities all contribute.

To genuinely help people experiencing challenges with their mental health, we need to understand that mental health is not an individual endeavour, but a societal one.

Change is needed on a political and societal level. We need kinder politics, built on empathy and understanding of the challenges that many people face. We need nurturing communities in which people feel that they belong and are valued.

We will continue to campaign and work with others, pushing to work with the Welsh and UK government to raise awareness of the social determinants of mental health and the hidden effects of social inequality, emphasising and creating the conditions needed for people to thrive.
