TAPAS (heat) - Discipline, the theme of one of last week’s classes:

Tapas (discipline)
Tapas can be translated into ‘discipline’ or ‘unwavering enthusiasm’. This Niyama helps us cultivate a sense of self discipline, passion and courage. Tapas has many meanings and how it’s expressed in you can be different to someone else’s experience, whether it be improved health, a new habit, better concentration, or a different direction in life. But in essence it is our innate wisdom that we sometimes ignore and it’s the fiery passion that feeds our purpose!

Practice at home, keep an equanimous mind & balance the body. A regular practice can help to distract repetitive thoughts, free stale breath from the lungs and release tension in the body.

Amazing Yogins,

Please bear with me while I pause online yoga for a short period.

My passion for sharing yoga with all of you has not changed but in honesty I miss the in person energy. I have some learning to do on how best to connect with individual needs while teaching online. I'm setting out how to improve my offering to you, so please check my Instagram, Facebook and newsletters for updates.

I'm going to work on my website, my content and a new regular newsletter to stay connected with you all in the coming weeks and months.

Please comment or PM me if you’d like to sign up to my newsletter 🙏

Ananda Yoga - with Shelley

I started practicing Yoga with my Mum when I was about 8 or 9. We would place the book in front of us, read about the pose and then attempt to make the shape, I have very fond memories of sharing this activity with her. I am Vinyasa Flow trained with my background influences from Ashtanga, Dharma and Bikram. I have spent my life participating, exploring and enjoying a wide range of ways to move and care for the body and mind through nutrition, sports, dance and of course Yoga. I’m a perpetual Yoga scholar and teacher, marathon runner, sportive cyclist, squash player and certified nutritionist - with a keen interest and influence from Ayurveda. In the past ten years I’ve found myself returning to my mat to practice Yoga far more regularly than in the preceding years, although Yoga has always been part of the journey. Last year, I decided to take my 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Training with Yoga London and feel humbled and privileged to share my love for the practice with others.
