The concept of a "dark sauna" merges the traditional benefits of a sauna with an intriguing twist—immersing oneself in near-total darkness. This environment can enhance relaxation and focus, as the absence of visual stimuli other than the rhythmic lap of light form the wood burnign stove allows individuals to turn inward, promoting a deeper meditative state, ideal for a 30 min guided meditation and cooling breathwork to relax further.

🚀 Every Man Can CIC: Expanding the Movement for Men's Health

We’re thrilled to announce new collaborations and a powerful relaunch of our work in Middlesbrough and beyond. Just today, we met with Martin Dunning and Stephen from Recovery Connectionss to explore collaborations between our trauma-informed Fire and Ice Community Sauna and their upcoming Men’s Prehab Service in Redcar & Cleveland.

🔥❄️ Fire and Ice Community Sauna with a Purpose
Our contrast therapy model—Sauna and Cold Plunge—goes beyond wellness. It’s a trauma-informed, community-rooted experience that supports everyones healing, resilience, and connection, with profits supporting our mens health activities as well as fire and ice's own community initiatives such as self funded sauna places for local volunteers.

Join us in Redcar from 10am–12:30pm for the relaunch of our Men’s Health Showcase Events, in partnership with Kyle Snowdon from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.
We’ll be:
Logging men’s health assets across Redcar & Cleveland
Launching a new Tees Valley-wide men’s health network
Connecting professionals working with men to collaborate and amplify impact, hearing from each others experiences.

🌍 Building the Network
Phase one: A network for practitioners and organisations working to empower men.
Phase two: A community for boys and men to access local, self-led health and wellbeing routes—online and in person—with storytelling at its heart.

We’re already been supporting initiatives that help men “Find what works for them,” including:
Speaking workshops
Conflict prevention training
Digital storytelling pilots with Humanities and Social Sciences Teesside University O'Neill
Self-funded access for key groups to our Fire and Ice Community Sauna

This su***de prevention awareness day, the theme is around keeping the narrative going and well, we're all about that and proud of the Teesside-based mental strength podcast episodes.

Sadly, all good things come to an end, and whilst the Matts have moved on to other passion projects, our legacy of episodes remains as a resource.

Time for updates as we approach our first year since trading and reinvesting to our communities on what we've done and what we're going to do next.

EMC CIC PLAN UPDATE

Phase 1:
✅️Established Every Man Can CIC and started pilot programmes and collabs. Exciting first phase brought us amazing founding director offerings establishing our trading social enterprise. That included, for everyone, a mental strength podcast and podcast services, sauna therapies and training in our communities to to directly fund our growth. With help from Northern Safety Ltd for first aid training as well as ongoing collabs with Green Seas Yoga, Be Still - for mind and body CIC, Wyke Lodges & Touring Caravans, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, and more.

✅️ Invested in conflict prevention training sessions with Amanda Chalmers, a lived experience Speakers programme with Matt Homan as well as issuing small donation support grants to local men's programmes Men's Pie Club and The Link Charitable Trust mens group and into our own beneficiary savings pot.

🫂😊🙏Thanks to every single one of you who has supported us in so many different ways from our evaluative research partnerships led by the amazing Shelina Visram, to our founding directors, to our first little team of volunteers and creators, and our paying customers who have helped directly fund our growth and ability to support others, often photographed and filmed on his own time by Mr Matt Stirland .

It's been hard work and has included personal and huge professional challenges along the way and it's involved so many positive interactions, I cannot list them all. Thank you, to you all. You all taught me something new. ❤️🤠

Next up.
Phase 2 and 3

➡️Every Man Can awareness campaign to join the dots with men's health activity partners already doing their thing across Tees Valley.

➡️We will create, from our research insights, a Tees Valley Mens Health Network, a connected and varied offer for men.

➡️We'll follow the evaluative research from our own previous BoroManCan evaluation to lead our priorities.

➡️We will then get about working with, listening to, connecting and empowering change-ready men and boys to those who can help them find what works for them, before the s**t hits the fan in their lives, with their minds, bodies and relationships.

➡️ Beyond that, well maybe you, the person reading this have an idea to develop alongside our own longer term plans.
