I just want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to all our amazing Croft Lodge staff 💛. This week has been full of rota changes, shift swaps and last-minute calls for help, yet every single one of you stepped up to make sure our residents continued to receive the care and kindness they rely on 🙏✨.

It’s been a busy time with new residents joining us, but you’ve all handled it with such professionalism, patience and teamwork 🌟. Whenever I’ve needed support, you’ve been there without hesitation, and I’m truly grateful 🤍.

A special thank you to our wonderful deputy manager, Annette, for covering shifts and supporting everyone on the floor — your dedication means so much 💐.

And as if that wasn’t enough, you’re even going the extra mile by helping our sister home, Estuary View, next week. Your commitment and willingness to support others truly shows the heart of this team 💛🤝.

Let’s have one final push and fill another box with festive treats. Tinned goods, packets, and any spare items you can offer are all welcome. Clear out your cupboards and help make a difference to someone in need.

This season, Croft Lodge Centrum Care Homes is teaming up with the Teignmouth Mutual Aid Community Larder to help support those in our town who need a little extra warmth and care. 🫶

We’re inviting our residents, families, staff, and local friends to join us in a Community Giving Month — collecting small items that can make a big difference!

🛒 What we’re collecting:
🥫 Tinned and packaged food (soups, beans, pasta, rice)
🧴 Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste)
🎁 Little treats or festive goodies to brighten someone’s day

You don’t need to give a lot — just 1 or 2 items a week for a month can change a life. 🌟

Together, our residents and staff reflect on their courage and the peace we enjoy because of them.

Turn your clocks back at 2am on the Sunday 26th October 2025

🕒 Attention Care Team! ⏰
It’s that magical time of year again — when the clocks go BACK one hour this weekend! 🎉

That means one of two things…
💤 An extra hour of sleep (yes, please!)
☕ Or one more cup of coffee before your shift (also acceptable).

Just make sure when you come in on Sunday October 26, your clock — and your watch — are set to the right time.
We don’t want anyone showing up an hour early… unless you’re bringing breakfast for the night shift! 🥐😄

As we adjust our own routines, please remember that time changes can be confusing for people living with dementia.
Try to keep daily routines consistent, provide gentle reminders, and offer reassurance if someone seems unsettled by the change in light or timing. ❤️

🎶🕺💃 Time Travel Through the Decades at Croft Lodge! 💃🕺🎶

What an incredible day we had celebrating the fabulous 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s with a lively vintage-themed party! Our amazing DJ brought the vibe with classic vinyl records, filling the room with nostalgic tunes that had everyone singing, dancing, and smiling from start to finish — no one wanted it to end! 💽🎤🎷

Our wonderful Deputy Manager Annette stole the show in a fabulous retro outfit, dancing and singing with residents and spreading joy everywhere she went. 💃✨

We were also thrilled to welcome two lovely residents from our sister home, who joined in the fun — and they didn’t stop dancing and singing either! ❤️

It was truly a heartwarming day filled with laughter, music, and memories. Here's to more magical moments like these at Croft Lodge! 🎉🎈

🎅✨ It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Croft Lodge! 🎄

We’re getting into the festive spirit nice and early this year – and our Christmas calendar is already filling up with lots of sparkling activities for our wonderful residents! 🎁💫

Here’s a little sneak peek of what’s coming up so far:

🎨 Hazeldown School – helping our residents make Christmas crackers and hats!
🌸 Flower arranging with our very own resident florist, Dawn
🎶 Teignmouth School Choir – bringing us some beautiful festive tunes
🕯️ Christingle service with our lovely church visitors
🎵 Stuart, our resident singer and accordion player, getting everyone’s toes tapping
🎤 Community Choir – spreading Christmas cheer through song
🎼 Millie Bowden, our resident singer, performing everyone’s favourite Christmas classics!

We can’t wait to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year together! ❤️

🌿 World Mental Health Day 🌿

As the Registered Manager at Croft Lodge and a Mental Health First Aider, mental health is something that is extremely close to my heart. Supporting the wellbeing of others isn’t just part of my role—it’s a responsibility I take very seriously, because I know how it impacts every aspect of life, both at work and at home.

In a care home setting, our staff face challenges every day, and it’s vital that they feel supported, listened to, and understood. Promoting positive mental health in the workplace isn’t just about responding when someone is struggling—it’s about fostering an environment where everyone feels safe to speak up, ask for help, and take care of themselves.

Prioritising mental health benefits everyone. It allows our team to perform at their best, provide the highest standard of care to our residents, and maintain a culture of compassion and respect. By encouraging open conversations about mental wellbeing, we remove the stigma and create a workplace where people can thrive, even in the face of challenging situations.

On this World Mental Health Day, I want to remind everyone that it’s okay to not be okay, and that reaching out is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether it’s a colleague, a friend, or a professional, support is available—and together, we can make mental health a priority, not just today, but every single day.

💚 Let’s continue to create a community at Croft Lodge where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered.
