πŸ™‚ Fantastic news for disabled people who want to work!

The Department for Work and Pensions - DWPs’ rules came into force today.

This means paid or voluntary work will no longer automatically trigger a Work Capability Assessment reassessment or a (PIP) award review.

That is good news for disabled people who want to try new roles, build confidence, and take opportunities without worrying that one step forward could put their support at risk.

And if you want to see what trying a meaningful new role looks like in real life, watch this lovely BBC Somerset video from January about Emily, who is supported by Discovery Learning Disability Support, part of Dimensions.

πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ Emily has a learning disability and is autistic. She always wanted to be a swim teacher, and now she’s living - and swimming - the dream. See for yourself!

Got any ideas for how to transform a garden? Our executive team are getting green fingered for two ladies we support who would love a garden glow-up and somewhere to enjoy the sun and flowers together.

They are going to makeover TWO gardens to raise money for Small Sparks. Give them a boost by donating anything you can, sharing this post or commenting with your ideas.

Keep an eye on our socials for the big reveal!

Dimensions is a not-for-profit support provider for adults with learning disabilities and autistic adults. We're raising money to help people we support who have asked for small grants to get more from life, like starting a friendship club or a new bike to get to work.

Please donate if you can or share this post:

πŸ’šπŸ’™ It's . Wear odd socks and take some time to find out more about neurodiversity.

Down syndrome is a genetic variation, a natural human difference. We're celebrating our diverse society and calling for people to think about how you include everyone.

πŸ™‚ At our Everybody Counts in Weymouth today.

☘️ Celebrating and talking about things that people we support and families said are important.

⚽ We've also made plans for some gentlemen to call each other and to go to a football match together.
