🌟 Can You Help Us Create Special Moments for Our Residents? 🌟

We are currently looking to connect with local volunteers, community groups, and organisations who would be willing to visit our care home and provide enriching experiences for our wonderful residents.

This could include:
🎵 Singers or musicians
🎨 Arts & crafts groups
🐾 Therapy animal visits
📖 Reading groups
🧘 Gentle movement or wellbeing sessions
🌿 Gardening clubs
🎭 Drama or performance groups
🎓 Schools or youth groups wanting to connect across generations

If you are part of a community group — or know someone who is — and would love to make a meaningful difference, we would be delighted to hear from you. Even a small amount of your time can bring so much joy, connection, and stimulation to our residents.

✨ Last Week at a Glance ✨

We’ve had another lovely, activity-filled week and wanted to share a little catch-up of what our residents have been enjoying 💫

🎶 Monday
We started the week with a calm morning of 1-to-1 time, followed by an afternoon of music making. Residents loved playing instruments alongside their favourite songs – plenty of smiles and toe-tapping all round.

🎸 Tuesday
A musical afternoon quiz celebrating Buddy Holly Day, remembering his incredible legacy on the anniversary of his passing in 1959. Lots of great music memories shared together.

🌿 Wednesday
A busy and beautiful day – morning walks out in the community and local parks, some relaxed 1-to-1s, and a much-loved Ladies Hair Day in the afternoon. A real feel-good day.

☕ Thursday
We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon tea at Upton Vale Church Dementia Café. The volunteers were absolutely lovely and made everyone feel so welcome – thank you for having us.

🎉 Friday
We rounded off the week with a firm favourite… Bingo! Always a winner and enjoyed by everyone.

✨ A Look Back at Our Week ✨

We’ve had a wonderful week filled with connection, activity, and plenty of smiles 💚

Monday
The week began with morning chair exercises, followed by a relaxing afternoon tea at The Anchorage, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed ☕🫖

Tuesday
We loved welcoming our friends from Lorna House for a joint breakfast, sharing great food and conversation 🥐
The afternoon included gentle walks and baking as we celebrated National Chocolate Cake Day 🍫🍰

Wednesday
The morning was spent on 1-2-1 time, followed by a lovely Ladies’ Afternoon with hair and nails. After lunch, residents enjoyed taking part in fun ice-breaker questions, sparking plenty of laughter 💅💬

Thursday
More 1-2-1s took place in the morning, and the afternoon was a real highlight with live entertainment from our amazing new vocalist Jess Rowe, who gave a fantastic performance 🎶✨

Friday
We ended the week with a friendly bowls tournament, followed by a very special afternoon tea with our families, a perfect way to finish the week 🎳☕

Last week’s highlights ✨

What a lovely week we had filled with laughter, music, and a bit of pampering!

Monday – We kicked things off with morning exercises to get everyone moving, followed by a fun (and competitive!) skittles tournament in the afternoon 🎳
Tuesday – A calmer morning with 1-2-1s, then an afternoon of quizzes and music-themed hangman to keep our brains buzzing 🎶
Wednesday – More 1-2-1s and resident shopping trips, finishing the day with a joyful karaoke session 🎤
Thursday – Gents enjoyed fresh haircuts, and we were treated to wonderful live entertainment in the afternoon with the lovely Camille 💫
Friday – A bit of pampering with ladies’ manicures in the morning, then a classic afternoon bingo session to round off the week 🎉

✨ Last Week’s Shenanigans at Aveland Court✨

What a wonderful week it’s been, filled with movement, music, laughter and lovely moments together 💛

Monday got us moving with morning chair exercises, followed by a fun lounge bowls game. The afternoon was all about music making and dancing — plenty of smiles all round! 🎶💃

Tuesday started with a relaxed breakfast down at The Anchorage, then it was back home for an afternoon of “What’s Up?” and a much-loved game of bingo.

Wednesday was a real treat as the lovely Sue visited for our hairdresser session ✂️ followed by an uplifting music therapy session with Mick, our new entertainer — what a hit he was! 🎤🎸

Thursday took us out to Upton Vale Church for their Dementia Café afternoon tea. It was so nice to enjoy good company, conversation and cake ☕🍰

Friday rounded off the week perfectly with a morning trip to the indoor bowls club, then an afternoon of toe-tapping Music Bingo back at home 🎶🎉

Another week full of connection, fun and meaningful moments — we can’t wait to do it all again next week 💚
