Are you getting stiffer and stiffer? Finding it harder to bend down or stretch up to reach things?

If so come and join the Chair exercise class at the Methodist Church Hall at the top of Mill Street most Tuesday afternoons - from 2 to 3pm.
The class is done sitting on a chair or standing using the chair for balance or support. Each session includes stretching and strengthening exercises, breathing techniques and finishes with a guided relaxation.
Everyone can improve! One of the students is delighted to find that she can now pick things up from the floor which had been impossible!

Lose your stress and tension and discover your inner peace.

Yoga is for EVERYONE ... it is not about perfection it is about self-love and compassion and inner peace and this is available to all of us. You can improve your physical and mental health while you relax, stretch and meditate in regular classes.

This friendly class includes breathing practice, stretching, Asanas (postures), movement, relaxation or meditation and maybe chanting. Each class

You can come as a beginner or with years of experience as everyone works at their own level in Yoga. So there's no need to be very fit or flexible - that will come as you attend the class!
Beginners and men are always welcome!

What do you need to bring?
Please wear stretchy clothes and bring a cushion and a blanket or throw. - I have a spare mat you can borrow.
You may need extra warm clothes as I keep the windows open to keep us Covid safe.

The class runs in term times and a little more and you do need to book your place if you are new to the class.

Many of us are feeling distressed and it's no wonder after 2 years of pandemic , a series of storms whisking away fences, sheds and rooves, not to mention power cuts and flooding for some - and now daily reports of the appalling news in the Ukraine. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦

So how can we keep our sanity and inner peace?
Here are a few wise words.
The Dalai Lama says "Do not let the behaviour of others destroy your inner peace."
The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu reminds us that "If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.
So how can we live at peace in the present whilst still being aware of what is going on in the world?
Saint Francis de Sales said: Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset.

Many of us are feeling helpless in face of the current news. Like me you may have realised that you cannot change the whole world alone however we can each make a difference by doing our bit, where we are right now. That might be making donations, fundraising, visiting elderly or sick, helping a friend or going on a peaceful demonstration. Most of all we can cultivate our own inner peace by taking regular time to be quiet, to clear our minds, to spend time in nature, to breathe slowly and deeply, to relax our minds and spirits - just for now. Then repeat this as often as necessary to restore or retain your inner peace.

Something else we can do is to send peaceful thoughts, prayers and love to Ukraine and Russia and also to all the world leaders to help them make good decisions in this situation.

World Peace Card Meditation on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 - 7:30pm (and every night at 7.30pm when you are able).

You can download and hold World Peace Cards as you meditate. The cards hold the vibration of the World Peace Grids which have been placed at spiritually significant locations - North and South Poles and Jerusalem. By opening to their energy, you’ll become a channel for their love and peace which will flow through you to all the people on Earth. As you hold the cards and meditate on world peace you will be a beacon through which peace can spread around the planet.

Then simply meditate on peace in your own home at 7:30pm in your time zone. (You can also simply meditate on the word peace or any image which represents peace to you.)

As people meditate in each successive time zone the energy builds like a wave getting stronger and stronger as it circles the planet so the energy of peace will be transmitted for a full 24 hours and continue long after this.

Many people who took part in previous meditations reported that they had powerful spiritual experiences. As they united with others taking part in the meditation a feeling of peace developed within that stayed with them for a long time. Some saw beautiful golden light surrounding the planet and others felt that a web of fear was dissipating and being replaced with trust in others and for our future.

Many people will be meditating on peace whenever they can. This is a good way to help those in the Ukraine to help yourself too!
