8 Controversial Truths About Environmental Toxins You Need to Know

As a longevity researcher, I’ve uncovered some harsh realities about everyday toxins that most people don’t hear but should.

1️⃣ Your home can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than outside thanks to cleaning products, air fresheners and flame retardants. Open windows or get an air purifier.
2️⃣ Plastic containers leach chemicals especially when heated so avoid microwaving food in plastic.
3️⃣ Some non-stick pans release harmful compounds when overheated. Switch to cast iron, stainless steel or ceramic.

If you’re craving something sweet but still want to eat well, this is one of the easiest tricks I know.

Freeze your bananas.

When bananas freeze and then slowly thaw, the structure of the fruit changes. Some starches convert, the texture becomes creamy, and the flavour turns naturally sweeter. No added sugar.

Frozen bananas are also much easier on your blood sugar and your gut. They contain more resistant starch, which your gut bacteria love to feed on.

Here’s how I do it:
• Peel ripe bananas
• Put them in an airtight bag
• Freeze them for up to six months
• Blend them or eat slightly thawed as a simple dessert

It tastes like a treat, but your body responds very differently compared to a typical sugary dessert.

The problem is that our natural production of butyrate drops as we age.

That’s why I’ve been adding frozen bananas to my post training shakes. I use frozen bananas because they are organic, ready to use, and an easy way to support the microbiome every day.
