“We can’t thank Hospice in the Weald enough for all they’ve done for my mum. We had less than 24 hours to plan the wedding. Thanks to the Hospice, we did!” 💬

Debbie was admitted to Hospice in the Weald, Five Ashes for three days of end of life care.
She and her long term partner, Jason, had been talking about getting married for some time, but when she arrived at the Hospice her family knew that now was the moment to make it happen.

Here, Debbie's son, Elliot, shares how the family could plan a wedding for Debbie in just 24 hours with the support of the Hospice. 👰

While our Hospice in Pembury is being refurbished as part of our 'Shaping our Future' transformation programme, our teams continue to provide care every single day. 🟢

This winter, you can bring hope, dignity, and comfort to people facing a terminal illness. Our services extend to family and friends of patients, ensuring everyone affected receives support and guidance when they need it most. This support is free for everyone who needs it.

🗣️ Sarah, a Living Well patient who has had a vital part in 'Shaping our Future' workshops, said: "The team have absolutely listened to my thoughts and concerns, and with the layout of all the areas, people have been the foremost consideration. It’s very important that the consideration has not just been for patients, but also for their wider support network."

Jayne, who's been a part of the Hospice for over 30 years, has volunteered in various roles since she was 12 years old... ☺️

As one of our dedicated reception volunteers, she shares that the Hospice holds a special place in her heart.

🗣️ “Sometimes you notice people who are hesitant to come in – maybe they walk up to the door, then back to their car. I’ll go out and offer to walk in with them. That small act can make such a difference," she says.

We are pleased to announce that our Easter Wreath Making Workshop sessions are now open for booking! 🙌

Have you heard about our Creative Fabric Group? 👇

🧵 Open to patients and their loved ones, the group takes place every Wednesday at the Pembury Hospice between 11am - 12.30pm and gives people a chance to try activities like knitting, crocheting, sewing, and other textile crafts.

The group is open to all experience levels, promoting relaxation, confidence through creativity, social connection and a sense of achievement. ☺️

Are you familiar with our Hospice Outreach Service? 🤔

🏡 Our Hospice Outreach team is made up of doctors, nurses, paramedics, social workers and other professionals, all working together to support people in the ways that matter most, in the comfort of their own homes.

The team helps manage symptoms, both physical and psychological, and offers advice and guidance about palliative care, death and dying. 🟢
