Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to our Big Give Christmas Challenge! 👏

🥳 From 2nd - 9th December, you helped us surpass our target and raise an incredible total of £110,023, which will fund all our services for four days of the festive season.

There are 24 hours left to double your donation through our Big Give Challenge! 👇

This year, some of our patients and their loved ones will spend their Christmas on our ward. At Hospice in the Weald, we support our patients to make special memories together during their time under our care.

The money we receive from our supporters is crucial in enabling us to provide much-needed clinical care and emotional support when it is needed most.

Being told her cancer had returned and was inoperable was a big shock to Marion. However, she looked forward to a family Christmas whilst receiving support from Hospice in the Weald. 🎄

"My ideal Christmas would be to have everyone here, all the family together. Or possibly get invited somewhere so I don’t have to do the cooking! I want to get as many Christmases in as I can," she shared.

🎊 You might have seen that we are now welcoming in-patients back to Hospice in the Weald at Five Ashes!

Our transformation programme has seen major renovations to our Five Ashes hospice. These changes include an oxygen store to help meet fluctuating demand easily and efficiently, improved medication facilities, a commercial kitchen and the addition of a welcome desk.

Our Chief Executive, Nick Farthing has said “We are pleased to offer in-patient care from Five Ashes once again. We’ve also invested in additional facilities, so we can now also provide vital end of life care to patients with more complex health need.

“These positive developments are part of a major transformation programme across both sites to better support patients and their loved ones for many years to come.” 💚

🗨️ "Within a couple of hours of being here, messages went out to the girls – my daughters – and friends, to gather some Christmas bits and pieces. Everyone close to me knows how much I love Christmas and the fact I could make the room mine was so special…"

Katherine was cared for at Hospice in the Weald, Pembury in the latter months of 2023. She loved Christmas, and as a result of her circumstances, the festivities were brought forward for her and her family.

Here, Katherine shared how her time on the ward was made extra special due to being able to decorate her room with Christmas decorations. 🎄

This year, we are thrilled to welcome back the Royal Tunbridge Wells Orpheus Male Voice Choir to light up the Tonbridge School chapel with their beautiful voices! 🎶

The choir has been delighting audiences for 87 years with their wonderful selection of songs sung with rich four-part harmonies and led by inspirational Musical Director, Kent Lee.

Their performance is not to be missed, and they are excited to be joining us again, singing in aid of Hospice in the Weald. 🟢

🗣️ "By sending Christmas cards to friends and family, it raises awareness of Hospice in the Weald. I continue to buy them every year to enable the Hospice to continue to provide support to those who need it, and in a small way, repay the support we received."

Anne has been buying our Christmas cards every year since her sister died under the care of the Hospice in 2005.

Here, she explains why she’s been choosing to support the Hospice for such a remarkable amount of time, and how a simple act of sending Christmas cards not only brings joy but also raises awareness about hospice care. 🟢
