Day 4- the long one
Up at 3 to strap runners before they left at 4. Able to go back to sleep for half an hour then out of the tent so they could be packed up by 530.
We then had a 2 hour journey to our checkpoint, passing the first 2 runners as we drove down the route.
On the way we saw baboons and wilder beasts but then went the wrong way and got stuck in the grass/mud.
Managed to get to the our checkpoint, after being rescued, in plenty of time for the first runners coming through at 915.
Runners were coming through until 430, many very low, 58k in on a very hot day. We lifted spirits, fed and watered them, and did a few retapes, calf and quad massages.
We were in our new camp at 5pm, settled in and got to try the new showers! Then got to treating the last lot of runners until 730pm. General leg flushes, quads, glutes, shins and calves were the main areas worked on.
All finished with a beer by the campfire.
