In what is being considered a ground breaking moment in women’s sport, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has announced that it will be launching a Maternity Fund to provide grants for fertility treatments for eligible WTA players, as well as up to 12 months of paid maternity leave.

The announcement, made this week on the tennis circuit at Indian Wells, California, comes at a time when female athletes have been increasingly speaking up about the choices they have had to make in balancing the demands of their professional careers with their fertility
and family needs.

As always, LCRH stands in support of reproductive empowerment and empathy, and we are excited to see this new development in the world of Women’s tennis.

“The whole team at LCRH have been exceptional. Several of my friends have gone through IVF at different clinics, and their advice to me was to prepare to fight and advocate for myself every step of the way. Thankfully, I met a team who listened and offered options with supporting evidence so that we could make informed choices about our care.

I never felt like a number or that I needed to advocate for myself because LCRH has been in our corner from the beginning. Nothing felt unnecessary, and nothing was left to chance.

An extra special shout out to Jane, who went above and beyond during our time with LCRH. Communication was excellent, the care incredible, and Jane will always have a special place in my heart for everything she has done for us.

We were fortunate enough to be successful with our first transfer, and we know almost all of the credit goes to Lynne and Jane for that. And a sprinkling of lady luck.

I would recommend LCRH to anyone who wants to be empowered in their journey, feel heard and give themselves the best chances of realising their dreams.“

Dr Lynne Chapman – “This is me on the morning of 29th October 2005, holding up my first ever positive pregnancy test (there’s a little blue cross on there!) We had been trying for three years and this was our first round of IVF. This is the first sign of our eldest son, Tom, who turned 18 last week. 
 
This is the feeling we at LCRH work our hardest to help our patients experience. Unfortunately, it won’t happen for everyone, and it won’t always result in a live birth. But I know how it feels, and we want this for you.”
