Did you know we are always trying to improve our practice and service?

Part of this development is highlighting and celebrating good practice to our hospital Senior Management Team. This helps with us being able to continually learn and improve.

🎉🎉🎉 So, congratulations to Dr Mark Allenby who was recently recognised for his excellent communication with Patients and Families 🎉🎉🎉

If you would like to highlight good practice, please complete the WE’RE LISTENING FORM which is located next to the CF Admin Office by the CF Clinic

Alyftrek, a new CFTR modulator, has this week been approved by NHS England for use in people with CF who have at least 1 copy of a non-Class 1 mutation. It is as effective as Kaftrio with the advantage of only needing to be taken once a day. We will talk to you about Alyftrek at your next clinic appointment but if you would like any information sooner than that then please do get in touch and the CF Pharmacy team will be happy to talk to you.

Get your heart racing in the lead up to Wear Yellow Day and join in with the CF trust Circuits 4 CF Challenge.

It’s simple and suitable for all abilities: complete a circuit of your choice – for example jumping, squatting, or lunging for 11 minutes a day from Friday 30 May to Friday 13 June!

Why 11 minutes? Because we’re recognising the 11,000 people in the UK living with cystic fibrosis.

Make the most of the better weather to boost your vitamin D!

☀️The sun’s rays react with your skin to make vitamin D
🦴Vitamin D is essential for healthy bones and muscles, immunity and improving mood.
📚Research shows that ‘little and often’ is the best approach to safe sunlight exposure and vitamin D.
⏰Light exposure for 10 minutes a day between April and September provides good amounts of vitamin D whilst also minimising risks of sunburn and skin cancer.
🧴If your skin is exposed to the sun for more than 10 minutes, then a sunscreen or sunblock is recommended.
💦Stay well hydrated, as warmer weather increases the risk of dehydration and constipation in CF.
💊If you cover up your skin due to cultural or medical reasons, or you do not spend much time outside, then speak to your CF team about vitamin D supplementation if not already taking.
