Hi, I'm Beth and I am really passionate about providing high quality period and puberty education, so that children and young adults feel knowledgeable, confident and EMPOWERED to manage their menstrual cycles and health.

Hi, I’m Beth, and I’m the founder of Bloom and Belong, a social enterprise providing menstrual and puberty education for young people aged 8 to 14.

I’m a qualified teacher, and I combine that classroom experience with menstrual health expertise to create open, engaging, fun and stigma-free learning spaces in schools and communities.

I discovered menstrual cycle awareness a decade ago and couldn’t understand why this wasn’t being taught to youngsters. Girls deserve to be informed and empowered to manage their menstrual health and boys all have a mum, auntie, sister, partner in their lives and need to know this stuff too!

My workshops are bespoke and specialist, creating safe spaces where youngsters can learn and ask all their questions. Follow along to find out more

So many parents and teachers ask me what my workshops are actually like so hopefully this sheds some light!

We cover everything from what’s happening in the body, to how to manage periods at school, to tackling stigma with empathy and humour. There are some general basics I will usually always cover, but at the same time each workshop is designed to meet the needs of the group, so we might do other things like explore the sensory aspects of periods or hone in on one particular area in more detail.

Young people leave feeling more informed, less anxious, and a lot more comfortable talking about their bodies.

That’s the magic of specialist period education sessions - once you get everyone talking about periods they are so curious and have so many questions!

Cognitive Load Theory is and important concept shaping how I teach period education.

It reminds us that our brains can only process so much new information at once.
If we overload young people with too many facts, diagrams, or emotions, the key messages don’t stick.

That’s why in my sessions I:
🌸 Break information into small, clear chunks
🌸 Use visuals and stories instead of long explanations
🌸 Create calm, stigma-free spaces where learners feel safe to ask questions

Because when we make learning about periods brain-friendly, we make it accessible, memorable, and empowering 💪🏻💖

If you work with young people and would like to find out more about the work I do with schools - get in touch! From menarche to menopause, the menstrual cycle has a very real impact on staff and students and acknowledging and supporting that has the potential to positively affect wellbeing and attendance.

It’s rarely the biology, it’s the practical stuff and the emotions. Here’s what they tell me most often in sessions:

💬 “What if I leak through my clothes?”
💬 “What if someone laughs or teases me?”
💬 “I don’t want to ask a teacher to go to the toilet.”
💬 “I don’t know where to get products if I need them.”
💬 “I’m scared people will notice.”

These are small worries on the surface, but they feel huge when you’re 12, new to your period, and trying to navigate school.
That’s why open conversation, supportive staff, and practical systems in schools matter so much.
When young people feel safe, periods stop being a source of stress, and become just another part of growing up.

This is one of the most common questions I get asked from teens. These are my top tips I share in circles if somebody asks this question - would you add anything? 💖
