Boundaries

As a therapist I won’t:

Let every client’s crisis become my crisis
Answer emails at midnight
Neglect my weekends for extra charts

I will:

Close my laptop at 6 pm
Turn off notifications on Sundays
Protect the space I need to recharge

After a day of listening deeply, sometimes I struggle to listen at all.

Friends talk and my mind drifts.

Not because I don’t care but because I’ve been on all day.

I’m still learning how to switch off the clinical ear

and just be present as me.

Listening at work and listening in life

are not the same skill.

Yes: this job teaches us so much.
