Today is International Women’s Day.

And while it’s a day to celebrate women’s achievements, it’s also a moment to pause and look honestly at women’s health and wellbeing.

The data tells an important story.

Women are almost twice as likely to experience anxiety disorders as men (World Health Organization).
Around 1 in 5 women in the UK experience common mental health difficulties such as anxiety or depression each year (NHS Digital).

And globally, women continue to carry a disproportionate amount of unpaid care work, which is closely linked to higher stress and burnout.

When it comes to physical health, women’s pain and symptoms are still more likely to be dismissed, misdiagnosed or under-researched. For decades, women were underrepresented in medical trials, meaning treatments were often designed around male physiology.

But there has been progress. 🎉

In the last year alone we’ve seen growing recognition of:

🩷The gender health gap and the need to close it
🧡Greater awareness of menopause and hormonal health in workplaces
🩷Increased funding and discussion around women’s reproductive health research
🧡A stronger cultural conversation about burnout, boundaries and emotional labour

These shifts matter.🎉

Because change often begins the same way progress begins in therapy.
With awareness.
With conversation.
With people deciding that things can be different.

As a solution focused hypnotherapist, I see every day how capable women are of moving forward when their brains are given the right conditions to do so.

Resilience is not about pushing through exhaustion. It’s figuring out how to create lives where our minds and bodies can actually thrive.

So today isn’t only about celebrating women.

It is about imagining the future we are still building.

🧡 A future where women’s health research is equal.

🩷 Where emotional labour is recognised and shared.

🧡 Where rest, ambition, creativity and wellbeing are not competing priorities.

🩷 And where the next generation of women grow up knowing their wellbeing matters.

Small steps. 👣
Meaningful change.
Forward momentum.

Happy International Women’s Day.

Pain and Reduced Mobility During Burnout

Physical pain can be overlooked in conversations about burnout.

Many women experience increasing aches, stiffness, or reduced mobility and assume it’s something they should tolerate or push through. In reality, prolonged overload affects the whole system, body and brain.

When pressure remains high, recovery reduces and tension accumulates. Movement can begin to feel harder and less fluid. It’s a signal that strain has been present for too long.

If physical discomfort has become part of your everyday life, support is available.

Book now or dm REWIRE to start a conversation about a more comfortable future.

Burnout recovery starts with safety.

When you're already exhausted, the idea that you need to do more, try harder or be more disciplined can seem appealing to your compromised brain, but it actually slows recovery. Burnout occurs when the nervous system has been under sustained pressure for too long. Recovery begins when the brain and body experience safety, calm, presence and reduced demand.

For many professionals, even accessing support can feel like too much. Travelling to appointments, rushing between commitments or feeling the need to perform can add to overwhelm rather than relieve it - it's yet another thing on your never ending to do list. This is why the environment in which recovery takes place can have an impact.

Online solution focused hypnotherapy allows healing to happen without additional pressure. Sessions take place via secure video call, from the comfort of your own home. This supports nervous system regulation by reducing stimulation, conserving energy and creating a sense of safety and control.

Hypnotherapy works by calming the stress response and helping the brain move out of constant survival mode. As regulation improves, energy, clarity and emotional resilience can begin to return at a pace that feels sustainable rather than forced.

If you are experiencing burnout and need support that meets you where you are, I invite you to book a free online consultation. This is a calm, confidential conversation to explore whether hypnotherapy could support your recovery in a way that feels manageable and supportive.

Rest isn't lazy, it's necessary for a healthy nervous system and sustainable performance.

For many high achieving professionals, rest can feel uncomfortable rather than restorative. If stopping makes you anxious, restless or guilty, it's a sign your nervous system has learned to associate safety with productivity and threat with slowing down. Add in the culture many high achievers have grown up in, the external validation we get from pushing through and the diminished cognitive control...and you have a cocktail that points all the way to burnout.

When pressure has been constant for a long time, the brain stays on alert. When work stops, stress hormones stay elevated and your nervous system struggles to settle. This is why rest can feel unproductive, unsafe or difficult to access, even when you're exhausted.

Solution focused hypnotherapy helps support your nervous system to recalibrate. By working directly with the brain’s stress response, hypnotherapy helps your system learn that rest is safe again. As regulation improves, rest becomes more effective, sleep deepens and your energy begins to return without force. You get you back again.

I work online via secure video call, and my clients find this particularly helpful when rest already feels hard to prioritise. Sessions take place in a familiar environment, that you have control over, reducing pressure and allowing you to settle more naturally.

If rest currently feels difficult or anxiety provoking, I invite you to book a free online consultation. This is a calm, confidential conversation to explore whether hypnotherapy could help you rebuild a healthier relationship with rest and recovery.
