The MOSAICC trial has just surpasssed 1,000 participants nationally and keeps on going!
Here at Lincoln, we’re consistently one of the top recruiters to this study, despite not being one of the larger ICU centres involved.
A huge well done to everyone involved. The trial centre themselves say: “Thank you for all your hard work and everything that you do!” Hear hear to that!!

A great day at the ABBRUPT stakeholder event in Birmingham.
ABBRUPT is an emergency care trial comparing two treatments (Amiodarone vs Beta Blockade) for patients with new onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF) and is taking place in ICU at LCH. An informative day, discussing the importance of including all members of the MDT in trial recruitment and delivery, ACCPs and their role in clinical trials, top tips from other sites, plus great to hear from the PPI group actively involved as co-applicants on the trial. Brilliant that 2 of our ACCPs, Melissa & Kayleigh were able to join our research nurse Kelly, to give our feedback and input to the future of this important trial. Was also great to meet the trial centre team, and connect with other site teams about this important trial.

Congratulations to Research Nurse Kelly Hubbard and Advanced Critical Care Practitioner Heather Baker for all their hard work to date on the MOSAICC study which reached 1,000 Patients Nationally this week.

A huge well done to all the team on ICU for all their amazing contributions so far to the study, which looks at the clinical effectiveness and cost of Sodium Bicarbonate in metabolically acidotic patients with Acute Kidney Injury.
Despite being one of the smaller ICUs recruiting to MOSAICC, Lincoln has consistently been a top recruiter to the study thanks to the proactive engagement of all ICU staff and the enthusiastic leadership of Kelly and Heather. Amazing work folks! The study is still open and they’ve been busy including another patient this week!

“We hope this message finds you well. We are looking to recruit Resident Doctors to our national survey related to the prescription of continuous subcutaneous infusions (‘syringe drivers’) during end-of-life care.

About the Study
This research survey aims to assess the confidence and knowledge of resident doctors working within the UK when prescribing continuous subcutaneous infusions (otherwise known as syringe drivers) during end-of-life care.
This research is being conducted to see if further undergraduate and postgraduate education is required on the topic, and what factors impact confidence and knowledge on syringe driver prescribing.

Who is Eligible to Participate?
You are eligible to take part if you:
· Have undertaken employment as a doctor within the United Kingdom during the past 12 months.
· Have full or provisional general medical council (GMC) registration as a doctor.
· During the above period you worked within a clinical training role (e.g. F1, IMT, HST), as a locally employed doctor (e.g. Trust grade doctor), or as a “locum doctor”.
We are not surveying GPs, Consultants, or SAS doctors as part of this survey.

Optional Prize Draw
Participants will have the option to enter a prize draw for a chance to win one of ten £25 vouchers.

What Will Participation Involve?
Participants will be asked to complete a short online survey (~10 minutes) about their experience prescribing syringe drivers. We will validate your identity as a doctor by collecting a small amount of personal information, which will be deleted once your identity has been confirmed.
