With all my post advertising Restorative Yoga I thought I should explain what it actually is and how it differs from other yoga sessions.

Where other forms of yoga are active, restorative is passive. The ultimate practice in letting go and unwinding deep seated tension.

This is especially helpful for those experiencing burnout, peri/menopause, and autoimmune disorders such as Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Obviously there are benefits to dynamic exercise including cardio, HIT and strength training. But if your body is already experiencing inflammation - perhaps what it needs is something to soothe and calm the flames - not add fuel to them!

In a capitalist culture that rewards action, profit and success over kindness, community and balance, short term gain over long term health and well-being of people and planet, it’s no wonder that so many are struggling.

Balance values rest as well as action.
That why deep rest is a revolutionary act - a time to stand apart from the constant stampede of activity which never stops, the algorithm that never rests. And pause. To be. To rest. To reflect. And to restore.

It’s that time of year again where we move our early morning beach class back into the studio 🔥
We had such a great run of beach classes this year with barely any interruptions by bad weather, but tomorrow rain is forecast so this seems like a good time, just before the clocks go back ❄️

Come and join for an energising yet grounding start to your day, suitable for various levels, with movement for improving mobility and stability in our bodies, pranayama (breath work) to shift out energy and meditation to meet the day with mindful intention ✨🙏

What to expect in the yoga sessions on our retreat day on 4th Oct ✨

If you often find yourself rushing to your yoga class (and everywhere else!) and arriving feeling wired and struggling to quieten body and mind, perhaps a whole day to wind yourself right down to your grounded, steady and contented self could be just the ticket.

Come and enjoy and learn how a yoga practice, Ayurvedic inspired diet and lifestyle habits can support you to find more presence and ease in your daily life.
From qualified practitioners in yoga therapy, nutrition and Ayurvedic food.

Plus use of a wood-fired sauna and ice bath and plenty of spaces to relax and unwind, either in community or perhaps some much needed alone time.
Ayurvedic massage also available on request (must be pre-arranged).

Whether you are a woman in peri/menopause, single parent, a stressed out freelancer or employee under pressure, simply needing a timeout and/or wanting to learn more about the ancient practices of yoga and Ayurveda this retreat will offer something to support you.

Begin with a 45-minute yoga practice on the pier at 7.15am as the sun rises over the sea. This breath-led sequence is designed to gently awaken your body, steady your breath, and clear your mind, preparing you to fully receive the benefits of the sauna.

Continue your seaside journey with just a two-minute walk to the communal sauna at 8.15am , also overlooking the water.
Spend a full hour in restorative warmth, while you gaze out at the sea and connect with fellow participants.
