Your brain likes repeated patterns of behaviour.....

But that's not what you want anymore in regards to your anxiety.

Every day can be a fresh start....

Every Sunday can be an opportunity to reset for a new week ahead.

A full stress bucket (hippocampus) 🧠 might mean that we can't see through the fog of overwhelm and overthinking to rationalise this. Instead we can get swept up in worrying about future things, what if's or understandably replaying difficult things from the past that we've been through. This ultimately leads to anxiety, low mood and stress. If it's not addressed then eventual burnout.

We DO have these opportunities. We CAN have a new start every day. 💫

We need stress in our lives to keep us motivated, engaged, feel accomplished, confident etc.

But sometimes stress can take over, leaving us feeling awful. Overwhelmed and depleted.

When you feel stress taking over its important to take action (even when you don't feel like it) the next time you feel overwhelmed try writing this plan out ⬇️

1. Awareness.. . Noticing that you're stressed, when you are stressed, before it gets to burnout time.

2. Why do you want/ need to lower your stress? Your reasons. (Take a good amount of time with this... lean into your reasons. This will help you engage more)

3. How are you going to actively lower your stress? What makes you feel lighter? What do you enjoy? What makes you feel good after you've done it?

4. Action it. Start small. A small, achievable goal that you want to start. Begin something even for just 15 minutes a day.

5. Transform into a habit with repetition, action and consistency. Maintain it despite setbacks.

For when we don't know what to do.

When we crave a connection.

For our mind to rest, to feel a moment of peace.

Being regulated..... a new buzz word?

The pressure of being calm all the time is too much on so many people I see and it isn't remotely realistic. Suppressing our feelings is making us feel worse.

The reality is that good mental health is all about balance... moving through those hard feelings, good times, difficult times, building resilience. Learning how to cope, how to get through, manage. Cry. Let go. See hope. See the good inbetween hard bits. Light and dark.

It's not pretty, but we are beautiful imperfect humans. Not robots. We have to feel the feelings to make sense of them.
