Healing doesn't begin when your eczema disappears, it begins long before that.
➡️ Here are 5 things that helped me stop hating my skin:
1️⃣ Realising that my eczema wasn't there to punish me, it was protecting me.
It was warning me that I couldn't carry on the way I was, something needed to change and I'm grateful my eczema showed me this.
2️⃣ Understanding that self-compassion was essential.
I underestimated the power of this, but it made a huge difference, and I see how much of a difference it makes for my clients too.
Healing past wounds come under this.
3️⃣ Listening to my body, and instead of being frustrated, I started to get curious.
I would talk to my skin and ask it what it needs from me, or what it's trying to tell me (I still do this when I have flare ups).
4️⃣ Stopped waiting for clear skin to feel worthy.
My worth is not conditional or up for debate.
Eczema or not, I am still deserving of love and softness.
5️⃣ Letting go of control and surrendering, trusting that my skin will heal.
The more you try to control your skin, the more pressure you put on yourself, and then the more frustrated you become when it doesn't get better.
Instead, start to develop a strong, unshakeable belief that you will heal - think of it as inevitable 😊
🤍 You don't need to love yourself skin every second, but hating it doesn't work. It has the opposite effect of what you want.
You can start by just embracing more softness towards yourself. Being kinder, with a sense of curiosity.
💭 I'd love to know how you feel about your skin, drop me a DM with either a 👍🏻 or 👎🏻 to give me an indication if you're feeling called to share.
With love,
