Osteopathic Centre for Children Care is gentle, tailored to each individual, and delivered in a supportive space. www.justgiving.com/osteopathiccfc/donate

The Osteopathic Centre for Children offers a welcoming, open-plan clinic environment where babies, children, and expectant mothers are treated by experienced osteopaths. The Osteopathic Centre for Children (OCC) is a UK charity offering specialist paediatric osteopathy to babies, children, teenagers, pre and postnatal women on a "donate-what-you-can basis" since 1991. Paediatric osteopathy is a non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical treatment for children. At the OCC we offer diagnosis, treatment, and – where appropriate – referral to other health professionals such as your doctor or midwife. Our qualified osteopaths specialise in the treatment of children 0-18 years of age, pregnant and postnatal women. After the initial consultation, we help you schedule any follow-ups as needed, with the same osteopath. We treat patients holistically, and look at the whole body, not just the presenting condition. Our osteopaths are suitably qualified to provide specialist treatment to support your pregnancy or the weeks/months shortly after giving birth.

During pregnancy, you may experience significant physical changes that can lead to discomfort. Osteopathic treatment during pregnancy can help by easing strain, improving mobility, and supporting the body’s natural function. Likewise, the rapid changes experienced in the body post-birth can also be cared for by our skilled osteopaths.

Here at the OCC, we welcome visits from other healthcare professionals to see what our specialist paediatric osteopaths do.

Midwife, lactation consultant, and tongue-tie practitioner Leonie described the experience "This felt a pertinent opportunity and fits in well with the type of care I offer as a midwife IBCLC and tongue tie practitioner. A lot of my job is assisting providing a holistic service to families and babies. Feeding issues can often be solved by bodywork and or positioning and attachment so getting good support in this period is very beneficial."

Thank you Leonie for coming, you're welcome back any time!

This course is primarily designed for osteopaths. We will explore and examine the various methods to improve concentration, centering, grounding, and the ability to interact in a crystal-clear manner with both our patients and ourselves. Our approach will incorporate insights, information, and methods from other disciplines, along with the wisdom and testimony of some old, esteemed and celebrated osteopaths who continue to guide us with their experience. We will tailor what we learn to the unique challenges faced by each participant, providing practical and useful solutions to create an even healthier and more nourishing working environment for all. It is now evident that the profession of osteopathy does not exist in isolation — the osteopath as an individual is central. It is therefore essential to recognise how the life we lead affects both our health and the well-being of our patients. The course aims to include both indoor and outdoor practices.

Osteopathy for all children

Since 1991 the Osteopathic Centre for Children has offered the very best paediatric osteopathy to children, babies and perinatal women, regardless of a family’s ability to pay.

The OCC has become an internationally recognised centre of excellence, providing not only a free consultation and treatment clinic but also postgraduate specialist training and clinical research. We treat children holistically, and look at the whole child, not just the presenting condition.

We believe that paediatric osteopathy should not be a luxury treatment option only available to the wealthy, so unlike other osteopathy clinics we work on a donations basis – patients are treated for free at the point of need - with families making a donation to the charity instead.

Most of our patients are under 2 years old but we treat children and young people until they are 18, sometimes older if they have particularly complex needs. Pregnant women and new mums are another small but important part of our work. Our team takes the time to listen and treat the whole patient, often making onward referrals to other NHS services where other tests or treatments would be of benefit.
