Yesterday, we attended the beautiful Remembrance Sunday service at St Mary's Eaton Socon Church with residents and family members. Together, we joined the local community in honouring the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country.

It was a moving and heartfelt service — a moment to reflect, remember, and give thanks, as well as listen to our own residents who shared their own memories and stories, helping to keep history alive for future generations. 🌺

Here at Nelson Lodge, we took part in the two-minute silence, pausing together to reflect and remember. It was a truly meaningful moment shared by all.

We will remember them ❤️

Today, we pause to remember and honour all those who gave so much for our freedom 🙏🏼

Over the past month, two of our talented knitters, Audrey and Marion, have been busy crafting beautiful handmade poppies — one for every staff member and resident within their lounge. Each poppy is worn with pride today as we join the nation in reflection 🌺

At 11am, we will observe the two minutes’ silence together here at Nelson Lodge, while some of us make our way to St Mary's Eaton Socon Church to pay our respects.

We will remember them❤️

Last week, we put pen to paper and let our imaginations flow with a wonderful craft session! ✏️

Using inspiration from the objects on the table and our books from the library, we began by sketching our ideas onto canvas before bringing them to life with paints, pencils, and chalk 🫟

A fantastic afternoon exploring our artistic flair, check out our finishing displays below ✨

Last night, our Activities Coordinator Tara attended the Great British Care Awards, after being nominated as a finalist in the East of England Region for ‘The Care Home Activity Organiser’ category for 2025✨

Tara joined other members of the Anchor team from across the district for an unforgettable evening — from a delicious three-course meal and an incredible Tina Turner tribute, to cheering on so many well-deserved winners 🏆

Although no trophy, being there was already a win and it was especially fantastic to see one of our fellow Anchor colleagues and another local care home in our town take one home — congratulations to them! 👏🏼

We’re so proud of Tara and all she does to make life brighter for our residents here at Nelson Lodge 🙌🏻

We had such a fantastic time when Billy Keys came to visit last week 🎹

Billy had everyone singing along, waving, clapping, and even up dancing to his wonderful music. The atmosphere was brilliant, with smiles and laughter! ✨

A special highlight was Billy performing some of his own songs, including one about Nelson Lodge — what a treat! 🎵

Thank you, Billy, for filling our home with music, joy, and wonderful memories. We can’t wait to welcome you back soon! 🙌🏻

It’s been another busy and heartwarming week here at Nelson Lodge! ✨

We were delighted to join Peppercorns Academy once again, along with Caroline and the lovely Coffee Pots Memory Café volunteers, for a trip down memory lane and some gentle dancing 🎵
This month’s theme was “Names as the Title” — and it brought back so many fond memories and smiles!

Our residents also enjoyed some relaxing pamper afternoons, furry companionship, plenty of puzzles and reminiscence, and some uplifting armchair exercise sessions with One Leisure St Neots 🙌🏻
A big thank you to Rob for bringing his energy to our Zest Wellbeing session also 💪🏼

To celebrate 5 years of our Be Well service, we're highlighting the positive impact it has had on many of our residents.

One strand of Be Well is Be Active. Be Active is our wellness and movement programme that supports residents to take care of their overall health.

At Cherry Trees in Redcar, Be active has been incorporated into many of the residents' daily lives. We spoke with two residents, Sue Mitchell and Maureen Russell, who share how Be Active has created a sense of community as the sessions have created a space for them to chat and get to know each other better.

Our Be Well service offers residents a variety of initiatives and activities designed to support with their wellbeing. These vary from Be Active which focusses on leading an active lifestyle to Be Connected which helps foster connection between residents.

Be Well recently turned 5, and to start the celebrations, Lauren Smith, Resident Wellbeing Lead at Anchor, talks more about how the service has grown into what it is today.

In her blog she talks about how Be Well started as a simple idea to provide residents with the resources to take care of their wellbeing and the amazing things that have been achieved along the way.
