Exercise and my work has helped coping with the loss of my brother, Lee. And it’s through my work where I met .

On the 13th October, my uncle .taylor.uk and Owen are planning to run/ruck from London to Birmingham along the Grand Union Canal, wearing weighted vests and ankle weights. This will take eight days moving for 7-8 hours per day and covering a total of 225km (140 miles), the equivalent of around 5.5 marathons. They will then compete in the doubles and singles heats on Saturday, 21st October.
-
By completing this, we are hoping to raise a significant amount of money for two brilliant causes which mean a great deal to us, whilst promoting the benefits fitness can have on everybody’s health and mental wellbeing, whether that be taking part, watching or volunteering.
-
is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company who are a hands-on support group for people struggling with their mental health. I am an ambassador for MATES and have personally been supported by them, allowing me to open up and try to deal with grief.
-
is an amazing charity close to a lot of people’s hearts. They have partnered with Hyrox to help do whatever it takes to support those living with cancer in the UK.
-
Our target is a huge £10,000 and all donations will be gratefully received and split between both MATES and Macmillan.
-
Follow us on our journey leading up to the event, the training in place and regular updates on both MATES and Macmillan and people you will be supporting.
-
Let the training commence.

Yesterday myself and teamed up with Jason for our monthly Walk & Talk at Orwell Country Park.
-
As a complete neat freak it was incredibly satisfying to do something I don’t think I’ve done since school 😂.
-
MATES will be looking to include these with the Walk & Talks in the future as it was a relaxed way to spend a Saturday morning hour.

Thank you 🤍
-
Raising awareness for something close to me was something I didn’t have the capacity for last year. This year I had the energy to at least do something for su***de awareness month. I hope that someone somewhere doesn’t have to go through the same loss me and my family did and be a ‘survivor’ of a su***de.
-
So this is a thank you to everyone who shared my posts and stories across social media this past week. Over 4,000 people potentially seeing it on Facebook, which is 4,000 more who wouldn’t have seen it if I didn’t do it. I guess that’s something.

I can finally wash my t-shirt now 😵

Last one!
-
Sorting the groin out 🤍
-
If you have a tight groin then this one is for you!
-
1. Rockbacks: foot facing forwards and should feel a long stretch on the inside of the leg, intensified by rocking back to the heel.
2. Frog rockbacks: hitting closer to the groin here, again trying to get close to the heels.
3. Isometric stretch: find a stretch then lightly push for 10 seconds (10-20% of max) the knees in to the ground to ‘fire up’ the groin. Then relax. Then get further apart. Repeat. More ROM!
-
In the last 45 years su***de rates have increased by 60% worldwide. Su***de is now among the three leading causes of death among those aged 15-44 (male and female). Please don’t hesitate to open up to someone, or be someone’s friend to lean on 🙏🏻

Ankle sprains 😖 🤍
-
Extreeeemely common with footballers and runners. Anyone really.
-
1. Do the opposite. Protect yourself easily by strengthening the muscles that do the opposite movement.
2. Calf raises: these will help with ROM and strengthening around the ankle area. Single leg if possible, hold on to something if needed.
3. Ankles circles: slow and controlled and holding on to the leg and knee to avoid rotation up there.
-
More than 2,000 people attempted su***de every day in 2001 in the U.S. and that’s just ones that are recorded. I’d bet that number is a lot higher now. If you are having thoughts, tell someone.

Assessing the hamstrings!
-
Ever get tight hamstrings or a strain? Strengthen them 🤍
-
The first part of the video is seeing if your hamstrings are even tight or not. I can’t touch my toes if I tried. However my hamstrings are not tight as I can get a good degree of motion (85%) here.
-
Next, placing something (yoga block) between your heel and bum and pushing your heel into the block creates an isometric contraction of the hamstrings. It’s tough and you may endure some form of cramping!
-
The rates for female su***de under 25 has risen by a massive 94% in 8 years (Samaritans). Please seek help if you’re struggling!
