Self-care isn’t always soft — sometimes, it’s choosing not to give up. 🙏
There are days when overwhelm creeps in… when pain, struggle, or self-doubt sit heavier than they should… when that quiet voice of failure whispers, “You’re not enough.”

But here’s the truth:

✨ Failure is temporary.
✨ Setbacks shape growth.
✨ The only thing that makes it permanent… is quitting.

Self-care isn’t just bubble baths and moments of calm.
It’s courage.
It’s boundaries.
It’s choosing yourself — especially on the days when your mind tries to convince you otherwise.

This week is a reminder to honour the small wins, the slow steps, and the strength it takes simply to keep going.
Rest when you need to.
Rise when you’re ready.
And remember: you’ve already survived every difficult day so far.

Wherever you are today — keep going. One step at a time. You’re doing better than you think. 💙

When we confront , it’s important to remember that the we experience can often become a powerful catalyst for growth. 🌱
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting what happened — it means finding strength in our struggles, learning from our experiences, and slowly transforming challenges into opportunities for change.
Every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. 😊

We are all unique. 👋

The way we experience life, challenges, and emotions is shaped by our own circumstances and starting points.

That’s why we should never measure someone else’s feelings or struggles by our own experiences. What feels small to one person may feel overwhelming to another — and that’s okay. 💛

Compassion starts when we listen without judgement and support each other where we are. Every journey is different, and every story matters. 🙏

As a child I suffered a traumatic event, which left me feeling unable to cope for many years.

I was amazed at the success of Therapy so I started up a small private practice helping my clients build their self confidence and self-esteem by overcoming trauma, fears and anxieties.

I work with a range of issues such as low self-confidence and self-esteem, stress and anxiety, depression, compulsive or addictive behaviours, fears and phobias, and PTSD.

I offer face-to-face sessions in Bedford, as well as virtual sessions. If you’d like to book in, you can email me at hello@jivandempsey.com or click the link in my bio to schedule a free 15 minute chat to see how I can help you.👋😊

🌿 Psychological Professions Week | 10–14 November 🌿

This week, we’re celebrating the incredible work of the psychological professions — the people who help us heal, understand ourselves more deeply, and move forward with confidence.

Behind every breakthrough, every moment of clarity, and every step toward change, there’s a trained professional holding space with compassion, skill, and evidence-based practice. Their work transforms lives across health and social care every single day.

We’re proud to contribute to this wider community of psychological support.
Whether it’s helping someone break a long-standing habit, overcome anxiety, rebuild confidence, or move through emotional blocks, every session is guided by one belief: Everyone deserves to feel understood, supported, and capable of change.

Psychological Professions Week is a reminder of just how powerful the right techniques — and the right therapist — can be.

If you’ve been thinking about exploring hypnotherapy, NLP, or mindset coaching, this is the perfect moment to take that first step toward your own wellbeing.

💬 Free consultation available — message the page to book. 😊

🧠 Therapy Is Work — And It Works!

Therapy isn’t casual conversation. As Dr Lynn Bufka from the American Psychological Association reminds us, therapy is evidence-based mental health treatment delivered by professionals.

Therapy is work — for both therapist and client — but it’s work that transforms lives. It offers a safe, confidential space to explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences with the guidance of someone who’s trained to help you make sense of them.

Progress often happens gradually, through reflection, honesty, and commitment — but every step brings greater clarity, strength, and peace of mind.

If you’d like to explore whether therapy could help you, I offer face-to-face sessions in Bedford and online sessions wherever you are.

🌱 Something worth thinking seriously about!

Many people believe good mental health means constant happiness — but that’s not the case.

Healthy emotional wellbeing isn’t the absence of sadness, anxiety, or anger. It’s the ability to understand those emotions, respond to them appropriately, and not let them define who you are.

Life brings moments of stress, disappointment, and uncertainty — and feeling low or anxious in those times doesn’t mean something is wrong. It means you’re human.

Therapy helps you put your feelings into perspective, build resilience, and find steadiness even when life feels unsettled.

The goal isn’t to erase emotion — it’s to make peace with it.

If you’d like to learn how to manage your emotions more effectively, I offer face-to-face sessions in Bedford and virtual sessions online.

💬 Ask Me Anything: “Does Therapy Really Work?”

It’s one of the most common questions I hear — and a very understandable one.
When life feels heavy or confusing, it’s natural to wonder whether talking about it can really make a difference.

Here’s the truth: therapy works because it gives you something most people never get — a safe space to talk, reflect, and heal.

In that space, you can begin to:
✨ Understand your thoughts and emotions more clearly
✨ Manage stress and anxiety more effectively
✨ Build healthier, more fulfilling relationships
✨ Break old patterns and create lasting change

Therapy isn’t about someone “fixing” you. It’s about working with you — helping you find your own clarity, confidence, and strength.

Real growth begins when you give yourself permission to heal. 🙏

🧠 The Foundation of Real Change in Therapy!

True psychotherapy begins when a person recognises that they play a part — often unknowingly — in the difficulties they face.

When that awareness emerges, a strong working alliance can form between therapist and client. Together, they can explore how the person contributes to their own challenges and begin to create healthier alternatives — so they no longer repeat the same painful, self-defeating patterns.

But when a person cannot yet see their role in what’s going wrong, the therapist’s work becomes gentler and more complex. It’s about helping the client see and understand — with care, tact, and compassion — that change in their outer world begins with change within.

This process takes time, courage, and trust. It may take weeks or months before a person is ready to truly embrace this insight — but until then, the deeper work of therapy cannot really begin.

Because without a shared purpose, there is no true treatment — only conversation.
And when that foundation finally forms, that’s when healing truly starts. 😊

I offer face-to-face sessions in , as well as virtual sessions.

🧠 It’s — an important time to challenge misconceptions and raise understanding around obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

OCD is often misunderstood or minimised as a “quirk” or a preference for tidiness — but in reality, it’s a serious mental health condition that can cause significant distress and impact daily life.

It’s not about being organised or neat — it’s about unwanted, intrusive thoughts (obsessions) that trigger intense anxiety, and repetitive behaviours (compulsions) performed to try to ease that anxiety.

The good news is that effective, evidence-based treatments — such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP) — can help people manage and recover. 💙

Understanding is the first step toward healing. By talking openly about OCD, we reduce stigma, increase compassion, and remind people that help and recovery are always possible.

If you or someone you care about is struggling, please reach out — support makes all the difference.😊🙏
