Eating Disorders and Carers Eating Disorders & Carers is an organisation dedicated to supporting families who are looking after I am the mother of 3 children, 1 son and 2 daughters.

My daughters have both suffered with an eating disorder. One had anorexia and the other bulimia/binge eating. My brother also suffers from schizophrenia. It was whilst I was caring for my two daughters and my brother that I saw other carers struggling with their care giving role due to a lack of support, information and recognition by services. Given these issues, I decided to set up my business to support family carers. My work covers a variety of roles focused on carers’ needs within the mental health field and helps to build stronger relationships with medical professionals. I run 'Collaborative Caring Skills Workshops' for family carers using motivational interviewing techniques such as the importance of communication skills - working towards a positive change.

Just back from Manchester where I was helping to run a two day workshop with professionals and family carers which seemed to go well.

On Wednesday I was in Norwich cathedral for a service to those who had died from an eating disorder organised by B-eat. It was a very moving experience and it makes one even more determined to conquer the illness and the stigma surrounding it.
