Bolsover

Called to assist a 71yo male who had been refused transport to Respite care by the NHS

We attended to see how we could assist as we aren’t a transporting service

We assessed the gentleman and arranged a wheelchair transfer to the Carehome with Express Taxis, we then assisted him into his wheelchair ready for transfer

This morning we were called to a 75yo male who had fallen when he got up to go to the toilet

His wife called us to assist after trying 111

On arrival we assessed for injuries and illnesses and used our lifting cushion to get him back into bed

Response time - 10 minutes

Called to an 80yo male who had slipped getting out of bed

On arrival assessed for injuries and underlying health conditions and used our lifting cushion to get them off the floor

As there were no injuries or underlying illnesses we cancelled the ambulance

Old Tupton

This morning we were called out to an 80yo lady who had fallen in her kitchen

Her daughter had called an ambulance and had been quoted a 10 hour wait

We arrived on scene 15 minutes after the call came in, we assessed for illness and injury, before lifting the patient with our lifting cushion

As there were no injuries or underlying illness, the ambulance was cancelled and the patient was tucked up in bed before we left.

Response time - 15 minutes
Time on scene - 1 hour

The article is from America, but we charge carehomes £240 to provide a lifting service, but it means your resident isn’t on the floor for 5-6 hours

Waiting for Non emergency lift assistance increases risk to the service user, increases strain on NHS emergency vehicles, and increases strain on hospitals, because once a service user is down for an extended period of time, they will have to go into hospital anyway as a precaution

We can be with a service user within 45 minutes of the call coming in reducing strain on the service user, NHS ambulance service and hospital allowing for better response times to more serious injuries and illnesses

For individuals in their own home we do it for a donation

Cincinnati leaders say the proposed $1,000 fee for non-emergency lift assists could save taxpayers millions and push care facilities to improve how they help residents.

Falls team callout - 1900 - 22/11/2025

Wingerworth

Tonight we were called out by a care company to a couple who had both fallen in their home, the care company had called 999 already and were quoted a possible 10 hours until an ambulance was available

We arrived on scene in 25 minutes, and began assessing the patients

The husband was un injured and was lifted up with our lifting cushion and assisted back to bed with no need for an ambulance

Unfortunately his wife had suffered a big bump to the head and required further care until the ambulance arrived

We updated the ambulance service and stayed on scene until they arrived, we handed over to the crew and cleared the scene

Total time on call 2hrs 50mins
