What a joy to receive these beautiful photos from the Homage to Ash workshop which Pom and I did at the Llwybr Cerfluniau Aberlleiniog Sculpture Trail 2026. Many Thanks to Plas Bodfa for organising such a splendid event and for the lovely participants who joined us for our workshop, and to Ash of course for all her wisdom and to Aberlleiniog clay. Its lovely to have someone take photos at a workshop, thank you Lin Cummins.

Happy Earth Day. This is my ARK, my small addition to the global rewilding movement that encourages people to transform their gardens and land into "Acts of Restorative Kindness"

An ARK is a restored ecosystem where plants and wildlife are supported to re-establish through natural processes. ARKs often include native plant communities, ponds, and "deadwood" piles to support various life forms.

Look up Mary Reynolds, she's an inspiring reformed garden designer and the youngest woman to win a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show, who transitioned from "gardener" to "guardian" to address the climate and biodiversity crisis.

I have spent quite some time glueing this porpoise skull back together as it got smashed in transit. It was quite a hard job and not possible to fully complete. I have more pressing things to attend to tbh but it felt important to me right now. My priorities seem to be all over the place at the moment but I did manage to hoover up and pay a bill so I guess I am not an entirely hopeless case. If I had to justify spending hours fixing a broken skull I would say it's something to do with grief about all the death and destruction to the natural world but maybe I just like bones.

Yesterday I was out visiting Sue and Kate of North Wales Wildlife Trust at Coed Dolgarrog National Nature Reserve. We talked about making inks and paper from abundant and invasive plants and trees. I am really looking forward to providing workshops for the Gwneud Traciau project and connecting with the fantastic Gofod Glas project again. Today I met with Jasmine from Conwy Mind at their community allotment, it's such a lovely spot with so much potential. Its going to be great to deliver wellbeing workshops here using dye plants. I have been busy sowing more seeds today so I can have some plants to share with Jasmine and also to put in the community garden at Gardd Francon in Bethesda. Later this year I am doing a double bill art workshop with Carys Anne at GwyrddNi. Watch this space for more info about this fantastic weekend workshop, coming soon! Whoop whoop. Lots going on. Hope I can keep up. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to work with such lovely people and with organisations who are dedicated to creating positive social and environmental change.

No I haven't peed in a pot. Although I have been known to, for arts sake. This is Carrageenan or Irish Moss, a seaweed who can help us with all manner of things. I have been learning how to make glue and gesso from Carrageenan, and the result is fantastic. Although like with all of these natural materials it takes quite a while longer than pressing a button online. As an artist whose practice focuses on working with living materials, so much of my time is spent learning, researching and trying things out new ways of doing things. However if we profess to be inspired by nature then moving away from synthetic and plastic based arts materials feels ethical and aligned with a nature based arts practice which respects the rest of nature. 💚

In January I spent a month walking out for first light. The experience of seeing the moon over the mountains has stayed with me so I created this mini series. I used homemade inks out of Pren Melyn, indigo, sloe berries and coreopsis which I grew or gathered locally.

Crawiau Llechi. Slate Fences. I got really into looking at these beauties against the blue of the sky. Not unusual here, part of the heritage in north Wales but this row, in this light really caught my eye today. So many shapes and textures and colours. 😍

Some paintings from my residency at Mulranny Arts. Using natural pigments collected from around Clew bay; seaweed, peat, shale and clay to express the salt marsh and coastal landscape. Plus some home grown indigo from my garden last year. Working with a limited pallette feels more realistic when using local pigment. Looking to go a bit more abstract now and work with peat. These three are staying at the Arts Centre, it feels like they belong there.

Who we are and what we do

Living Bridge Community Interest Company (CIC)

Based in the Calder Valley in West Yorkshire, we are a small collective of experienced therapists and mental health professionals with a passionate belief in the transformative healing power of the ‘great outdoors’. We have created the Living Bridge CIC to be a conduit between nature-based practitioners such as ourselves and people and groups interested in exploring how spending time in the living world can enhance mental health and well being of individuals and communities.

We work with people on a range of activities and workshops designed to enhance connection to the environment and the sense of belonging to place. This can help improve mood, reduce stress, anxiety and loneliness, provide support with bereavement and loss and cultivate greater emotional resilience.

Underpinning everything we do is our desire to provide an experience of the joy of reforging a personal, close and life-time relationship with nature, often lost or sidelined by the pressures of modern day living.
