If I had to reclaim my health, energy, and body from scratch - in my 40s, 50s, or beyondâŚ
Hereâs exactly what Iâd do every single day:

1) Walk first thing in the morning. No phone. Just breath + movement.
2) Strength train 3x+ a week. Short, focused, no fluff.
3) Prioritise sleep like itâs my most expensive supplement.
4) Track how I feel not just how I look.
5) Set hydration reminders. Sounds simple - it is. And it works.
6) Schedule training in my diary like a client call. Non-negotiable.
7) Eat 3 real meals a day. No grazing. No guilt.
8) Ditch perfection. Obsess over consistency.
9) Turn 1 âbadâ day into a win by showing up small.
10) Reflect weekly: What helped? What hindered?
11) Unfollow fitness noise. Follow systems that actually fit my life.
12) Replace shame with strategy.
13) Get coached - even if Iâm âexperienced.â Especially then.
14) See my training as life-enhancing, not punishment.
15) Move daily - even if it's just 10 minutes.
16) Be the example I want my family and team to model.
17) Train to live well, not just ânot die.â

Wild, isnât it?
Lifting a barbell for 30 minutes = âtoo muchâ
But carrying chronic back pain for 30 years? Totally fine. đŹ
Training gets a bad rep because it asks for effort up front.
But you know what asks more of you?

This post is a warning to my future self.
Because padel is funâŚ
Until you canât walk without limping.
Here are the 3 injuries every padel player gets - and exactly how to avoid them.
1ď¸âŁ Calf/Achilles tears
Explosive movement + zero strength work = snap city.
â Solution: Do straight & bent-knee calf raises 2-3x/week.
2ď¸âŁ Shoulder pain
Weak rotator cuff. Tight lats. Too much overhead smashing.
â Solution: External rotations, band work & regular shoulder mobility.
3ď¸âŁ Padel elbow (aka Death Grip Syndrome)
Trying to strangle the racket every swing.
â Solution: Grip strength + wrist extensor work. And chill with the grip.

My Story:
I've always exercised, first playing football, then in the gym. But through my 20s and 30s I wasn't really seeing the results. I was in decent shape, but too much partying and a dodgy diet meant I never saw the full benefits of the effort I was putting in. Approaching 40, married with 2 kids (now 3) and a high-pressured job, I decided it was time for a change. In the past 18 months I've blasted it, in both the gym and the kitchen, to turn my physique, attitude and energy levels around, and become a qualified personal trainer along the way. Now I'm lean and hungry like a wolf - the GymWolfPT!
âI look back at how I trained and ate when I was younger and wish someone with the knowledge and passion for fitness I have now had invited me into their pack and shown me where I was going wrong. Now I'm making it my mission to do just that for anyone who is GENUINELY COMMITTED to changing their lives.
