Don't let anyone make you rush your grief 💜
Grief isn't something that you just 'get over' after a year or two- it doesn't have a schedule,
Grief stays with us. But in your own time, your life can grow around your grief.

Thank you to the Belfast Model School for Girls for inviting the Somewhere For Us team to deliver Grief Ally to their Year 8 students. We had conversations on how grief affects feelings, thoughts, behaviours and physical health, how to support a friend who is grieving and the importance of good self care. 💜

Our pets hold such an important place in our lives, and the impact of their death should not be undervalued.
In 2024, Jess Bolton lost both her dogs in the space of a few weeks. In a blog written for Cruse, Jess reflects on her grief and shares what things have helped her since her dogs died. Read here ⬇️

Grief doesn't always look like how people expect.
It can also look like...
💜 Wanting to talk about them but worrying about making others uncomfortable
💜 Feeling everything and nothing at the same time
💜 Laughing one minute and feeling guilty the next because you felt joy without them
💜 Feeling like you’ve changed even though everyone expects you to be the same
💜Making jokes about your experience because it’s a way to process things
💜 Saying “I’m fine” even when you’re not

We would like to say a huge thank you to Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council and Crematorium for their incredibly generous donation of £8,500 through the Recycling of Metals Scheme.

We are also very grateful to the Mayor, Councillor Leah Kirkpatrick for presenting this donation and for choosing to nominate Cruse for this support.

This funding will make a real difference, helping us to continue providing vital bereavement support to children, young people, and adults in our community when they need it most.

We are truly grateful for your support and the positive impact this will have on those we work with 💜

Grief can be like an iceberg- what we show to the world is just the tip but beneath the surface there can be so much happening which often goes unseen.
