Happy International Volunteer Day!

Today, we celebrate the incredible individuals who give their time and energy to make a difference. Meet Graham, one of our lovely Volunteer Drivers, who shares his volunteering story below.

“I have always volunteered and spent over 30 years with St John Ambulance in Maidenhead. When that stopped, I really missed that feeling of making a difference.
I didn’t have to look far to find People to Places, who were so welcoming and grateful for any time I could give as a volunteer driver. The people we pick up and help get around are so thankful – it makes me proud to support them and this amazing charity in giving back to our local community.
And the added bonus? You never know who you’ll bump into! While parked up in Windsor Great Park, none other than King Charles himself appeared. He had his own transport sorted, but I’d have happily given him a lift if he needed it!”

To all our amazing volunteers: THANK YOU for your dedication and passion. We couldn’t do it without you!

Today is the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

This day reminds us of the importance of inclusion, accessibility, and equal opportunities for everyone.
People with disabilities are more likely to experience isolation and loneliness, often facing barriers to transport, social activities, and essential services.

At People to Places, we work every day to change that by:
✅ Providing accessible community transport so people can stay connected
✅ Offering door-to-door support to reduce isolation and increase independence
✅ Creating volunteering opportunities that make a real difference in people’s lives

Your support helps us continue this vital work. Whether you volunteer, donate, or spread the word, you’re helping us build a community where everyone belongs.

It’s Giving Tuesday!
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Today is all about making a difference, and we’d love your support to help People to Places reach more people in our community.
Here’s how you can help us:
✅ Volunteer for us – your time makes a huge impact
✅ Donate money – even £5 helps us do more
✅ Donate goods to our shop – every item helps fund our services

Click here to donate: https://www.people2places.org.uk/support-us/donate/

Together, we can make a big impact with small acts of kindness.

Thank you for your support 🩷

The lovely thing about working for People To Places and Shopmobility is seeing the positive change we make to peoples lives on a daily basis.

Seeing someone get on a mobility scooter for the first time and having a day out shopping, a nice lunch with friends or just getting some fresh air with family you can see their confidence returning.

If you have a relative, friend or neighbour who you think could benefit perhaps you could help them to overcome any self doubts or self consciousness and bring them along to one of our centres. Here in The Alma Road Coach Park in Windsor or in The Nicholsons Shopping Centre in Maidenhead. One of our experienced, friendly staff will take the time to make sure a new user leaves us full of confidence on the way to gaining back some independence.

This was me on a scooter at The Gravity Grand Prix on a very wet day in September raising awareness and much needed funding for the work that we do. Help us to help others by spreading the word.

Thanks

Dave

Today, we celebrate World Sustainable Transport Day, highlighting the power of greener journeys and the steps we’re all taking toward a cleaner, more sustainable future. At People to Places, we’re proud to announce that our brand-new electric bus is now officially on the road!
This zero-emission vehicle was kindly gifted to us by the lovely people at Ascot Racecourse and will help us in our mission to provide accessible transport for our community.

Today is Carers Rights Day!
A day to recognise and celebrate the incredible work unpaid carers do every single day. Carers provide vital support to loved ones, often juggling responsibilities without enough recognition or resources.
This year’s theme ‘Know your rights, use your rights’ is all about making sure more carers understand their entitlements and feel confident to use them. Find out more here 👉 https://go.carersuk.org/CRD

Our Story

People to Places provide a range of transport services for people of any age who require assistance with transport, due to limited mobility caused by disability or infirmity.

People to Places started in 1989 with 2 minibuses, and has since grown to a fleet of 16 minibuses. All the minibuses are specially adapted to cater for most types of physical disability and are accessible to people in wheelchairs.

The experienced staff and volunteers at People to Places are DBS checked and MiDAS trained, ready and able to assist you to and from your front door.

People to Places operate a Dial-a-Ride service for residents of the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Dial-a-ride is a membership based service open to residents of the Royal Borough who are unable to use conventional public transport.
