Mondays are the busiest day of the week for GP surgeries — online forms we see a third more forms completed on a Monday compared to other days of the week.

We have on average approx 700 online forms completed with requests for appointments and treatment per week. Part of our role is to signpost you to the correct service, this may be the Pharmacy, District Nurses, Cues the eye service, urgent care response team or other Community services.

We may also advise self care. Most coughs and colds are self limiting - they get better on there own and you dont need to see a Doctor or Clinician.

But here’s the good news… you don’t have to wait until Monday to get help. 🙌

You don't need to see your Gp for these conditions. The pharmacist can prescribe medication for these conditions if it is indicated.
If you contact us with these conditions you will be redirected to the pharmacy.

Please help us allocate appointments appropriately to those that need them. Please follow our teams advice if you are re directed to the pharmacy.

❄️ Update from Delph Surgery ❄️

Due to the extreme cold weather, the pipes at Delph Surgery have frozen and unfortunately we currently don’t have running water for handwashing or toilet facilities.

For TODAY services will be moved to Uppermill Surgery.

If you have an appointment booked, we’ll be in touch shortly with more information and next steps.

MMRV is now part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme, replacing the MMR vaccine.

It protects against measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox.

Chickenpox is very common and can sometimes lead to serious complications, so vaccination helps reduce the risk of serious illness as children grow.

You don’t need to do anything — your GP will be in touch when your child is due.

Saddleworth Medical Practice are lucky to have an incredible team who work so hard. We hope they get some time to relax and celebrate with their families.

We closed at 18:30 Christmas Eve the 24/12/2025 and will be reopening on 29/12/2025 at 08:00. We will also be closing at 18:30 on 31/12/2025 New Years Eve and reopening on 02/01/2026 at 08:00.

Our phone lines will go through to the out of hours service during this time.

Over Christmas, for urgent but non-emergency health issues, use NHS 111 (dial 111 or use 111.nhs.uk), call for urgent GP appointments if your surgery is closed or visit a local pharmacy for minor ailments. For life-threatening emergencies, always call 999, but otherwise, 111 directs you to the right service, like out-of-hours GPs or Urgent Treatment Centres, ensuring A&E focuses on emergencies.

Remember to think carefully and ensure you use NHS services appropriately over this holiday period.
