🌿 Why So Many Parents Are Tired of Birth Debriefs

There’s a quiet shift happening in the birth world right now.

Parents are saying:

“I talked through the notes… but I don’t feel any better.”
“I understand what happened medically… but something still doesn’t feel right.”
“I’ve told the story so many times, and it still sits in my chest.”
“I’m tired of talking about it, but it still won’t settle.”

This is birth debrief fatigue — and it’s real.

Because a debrief can give you information…
but not integration.

It can explain the sequence of events…
but it can’t touch the part of you that felt confused, shocked, unseen, rushed, or powerless in a single moment.

A debrief can review the external story…
but it rarely meets the internal story —
the meaning you made,
the beliefs you formed,
the identity that cracked open,
the parts of you still holding that moment.

Birth Story Medicine is different.

It’s not factual retelling.
It’s not “What could we do better next time?”
It’s not a clinical review or a do-over plan.

It’s tending to your inner landscape —
the tangled emotions, the unfinished loops, the unanswered questions inside your nervous system.

It’s a place where we listen for the moment the story snagged,
the part of you that didn’t have words yet,
and the deeper truth waiting beneath the survival narrative.

Parents don’t need more information.
They need integration.
They need compassion.
They need a way to come home to themselves again.

🌿 This is the work we do in Birth Story Medicine.

It’s gentle, surprising, deeply human — and often the missing piece after a birth that left you unsettled in ways a debrief could never resolve. DM to enquire about a session.

Did you know I offer an online circle and community space?

When my life was at its absolute busiest (solo parent, disabled child, commuting and working more than full time in employment), I was only able to maintain it for as long as I did through accessing spaces and practices to lean into - ways of accessing community and energetic support that didn't require me to leave home or take time away from work or children.
'Fill your cup' was born from this. It's a space for busy women (including mamas in impossible situations) to restore in the time they have.

It is built around simplicity and flexibility with:

*online circle (+ group coaching),
*energy work (2x monthly, simply receive),
*micro practices (heart centering, freeing),
*community space (hosted on FB).

Our theme for December is WISEN, we're working with the Heart Centered virtue WISDOM.

No long term commitment is required, you are welcome to check it out for a month and stay as long or as little as suits you. If you'd like to know more or join us, link is in the comments.

This is an invitation to look calmly at what is happening, what is beautiful about unassisted birth, what is deeply concerning about how it is sometimes promoted, and what it might all mean for the choices people make next.

It's not just what happened to us, but how we make sense of it that matters.

How do you want to feel?

January this year, this was the question I was asking myself, the question I’m asking you now: how do you want to feel? That was a tough question for me at the time, maybe it is for you too. Being a mother is work. It’s hard work of a kind that no one really tells you about, that nothing really prepares yourself for. It’s the kind of work that too often is erased (if we ever fully acknowledged the importance of it, that awareness would turn the world upside down). And it is a wealth of specialist knowledge, a training ground for the *highest* personal development and spiritual practice - because you know that that is? That is love - love in action, love in expansion, love in service. And yet... Motherhood can hurt. I guess that’s the transformation in it, but too many of us get stuck there, mired in the struggle. How do you want to feel? That’s what I was asking myself. I didn’t know, so I started small -- I started with what I actually was feeling. Trust me, those feelings weren’t the desired ones. But I was feeling, and noticing -- overwhelmed, exhausted. With each feeling I didn’t want to feel, came an awareness of something I did want to feel: organised, rested. I kept it simple at the start. When I had to make a choice, I came back to how I wanted to feel. Rested. Organised.

That was enough to start. Desire Map is a way to re-map your life starting from how it is you want to feel. I’ve done it. I’m ready to share it with you. Whether you’re feeling great or not so great in this moment, here’s my invitation to you - Come explore the Desire Map process - free access May 2019 https://www.onecommune.com/a/14459/LYw979fP #desiremap #rebalancingwoman #remapmotherhood #howyoufeelmatters #womanandmother
