Harpin's Funeral Service

Harpin's Funeral Service Harpin's Funeral Service has been providing services within the local area for over 90 years. We’re also available 24 hours a day on the phone.

In 1930, Leonard and Vera Harpin purchased their first Rolls Royce. Through hard work, this soon increased to a fleet of two hearses and thirteen limousines. The limousines were originally used for a variety of purposes, such as weddings and not kept just for funeral work. They also hired the fleet to Funeral Directors in the area who didn’t own their own vehicles. The teams at our funeral homes will provide advice at every stage of the funeral planning process. We have a large selection of memorial masonry for you to choose from. We are also able to arrange additional works such as inscriptions and renovations on existing memorials, as part of our service, we will assist you with the completion and submission of the appropriate documentation. If you would like to talk to us about planning a funeral come and see us, or we can arrange a home visit.

If you have a loved one resting at Stanley Cemetery, officers will be available to speak with directly on Tuesday 17th March regarding this upcoming inspection. We know how important memorials are so please do share this post to reach anyone who may be affected 🤍

🌿 Stanley Cemetery Memorial Safety Inspection Notice 🌿

Myself, Lynn and Jack have been informed that a full inspection of memorials at Stanley Cemetery will take place from week commencing Monday 23rd March 2026 as part of the council’s ongoing Memorial Safety Programme.

We understand how important these memorials are to families and loved ones, and appreciate that this kind of work can feel concerning. The purpose of the inspection is to ensure that all memorials are safe and secure for visitors, staff and the wider community.

📌 Open Day for Memorial Owners
🗓 Tuesday 17th March 2026
⏰ 10:00am – 1:00pm
📍 Stanley Cemetery

Officers will be available on the day to answer any questions or concerns before testing begins.

If any memorials are found not to meet current safety standards, they will be carefully tagged and, where contact details are available, owners will receive a letter. Families will be given 12 months to arrange for a memorial mason to carry out repairs and make the memorial permanently safe.

If repairs are not completed within that period, a further reminder will be issued (where possible) before any further action is taken as part of the ongoing programme.

If you would like to speak to someone directly, please contact:

We are so pleased to share that Harpin's Funeral Service has opened a new branch in Normanton.

Being able to support families within their own community means a great deal to us. Our aim is simple - to provide compassionate, personal care and steady guidance at what can be one of the most difficult times in life.

Our Normanton branch is led by Sean and Sara Harpin supported by Funeral Director Jane Britton. Jane is proud to be part of the town and is dedicated to ensuring every family feels supported, listened to and cared for from the very first conversation.

Whether you need immediate assistance, are thinking of the future, or would simply like to pop in and say hello as you're passing by on the High Street, you will always be warmly welcomed.

We look forward to serving and supporting the Normanton community for many years to come 💛
