This Movember, let’s talk about something many men were never taught — how to feel safe in their own emotions.

Trauma doesn’t always look like what people expect. Sometimes it’s silence, irritability, overworking, or feeling disconnected.

Healing isn’t about “being tough” — it’s about learning safety, trust, and compassion for yourself again.

🌪️ What Is Catastrophizing?

Catastrophizing is when your mind jumps straight to the worst possible outcome — even when there’s little evidence it will happen.

It sounds like:
💭 “If I make one mistake, I’ll lose my job.”
💭 “They haven’t texted back — they must be angry.”
💭 “This pain means something is seriously wrong.”

Our brains do this to protect us — to prepare for danger. But when it becomes a habit, it can create unnecessary anxiety and stress.

🧠 How to Challenge Catastrophic Thinking

1️⃣ Pause and Notice – Catch the thought. (“I’m jumping to the worst-case scenario.”)
2️⃣ Ask for Evidence – “What facts support this?” “What facts don’t?”
3️⃣ Consider Alternatives – “What’s a more balanced or likely outcome?”

You can’t heal someone by ignoring the parts of them that hurt you.

Love isn’t about fixing — it’s about seeing clearly and choosing safely.

When we fall for someone’s potential instead of their patterns, we end up abandoning ourselves in the process.
