Can you lose fat and still eat pancakes?

Absolutely.

Sometimes a busy schedule means choosing convenience, and that is 100% okay.

These are shop bought pancakes topped with raspberries and a drizzle of caramel (been out all day so couldn't be bothered to make my own 😅)

You don't have to quit the foods you enjoy to see progress.

It’s all about balance, awareness, and fitting the things you love into your lifestyle.

Sometimes our food choices aren’t about food at all.

They’re about tiredness. Stress. Habit. Being on autopilot.

This isn’t about stopping yourself from eating.
It’s about slowing things down just enough to check in.

Sometimes food is exactly what you need.
Sometimes it isn’t.

Neither is “good” or “bad”.

It's just about creating awareness.

If this resonates, save it for a busy day 💚

Fibre - your gut’s best friend, especially after 40.

Fibre doesn’t just keep things “regular” it supports so many areas of women’s health.

✅️Hormones: Fibre helps your body clear excess oestrogen and maintain hormonal balance.

✅️Weight & Energy: It slows digestion, balances blood sugar, and keeps you full for longer, making fat loss more sustainable.

✅️Mood & Gut Health: A healthy gut microbiome supports serotonin (your “feel-good” hormone) and helps reduce inflammation.

✅️Midlife Support: During perimenopause, fibre helps stabilise energy, mood, and digestion, all things that can feel unpredictable.

Most women only get around half of what they need daily.

Start small: add oats to breakfast, beans to salads, or berries with yoghurt.

Your gut, hormones, and energy will thank you

I've officially completed my RSPH level 4  Nutrition 🥳

This qualification has given me a deeper understanding of how nutrition, mindset and lifestyle all work together, especially for women in their 40s and beyond.

A few things I've learnt from my studies:

☑️ Nourishment is better than restriction.
In our 40s, our bodies respond best to balanced, nutrient dense meals, that help to stabilise energy, hormones and mood.

☑️ Mindset is just as important as macros.
Letting go of "all or nothing" thinking makes it easier to stay consistent and enjoy the process.

☑️ Sleep is just as important as food.
Rest and recovery support hormones balance, appetite regulation, and overall wellbeing.

I can't wait to put this knowledge into practice, helping women 40+ feel calm, strong, and energised again 🧡

Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) have had a lot of attention lately, and it’s easy to feel like you should avoid them completely. The truth is, research does link high intakes of UPFs with things like overeating, weight gain, and poorer health outcomes.

But that doesn’t mean the occasional slice of cake with a friend, or a Friday night takeaway, is going to ruin your progress. What matters most is the overall pattern of your diet, not single moments.

Instead of stressing over every packet or label, focus on what you do most of the time, building your meals around whole foods like fruit, veggies, lean proteins, and wholegrains. And then enjoy the treats without guilt. 💛

👉 Do you find yourself worrying about UPFs, or are you more focused on balance?

🧘‍♀️ One of the biggest benefits of yoga is how much it can actually build strength.

The poses require you to hold your own body weight, which is a type of resistance training. Over time this helps to strengthen your muscles — especially your core and lower body. That strength is so important as we get older, because it supports balance, stability, and everyday movements like standing up, carrying things, and even preventing falls.

It doesn’t have to mean complicated poses or hours on the mat — even simple, gentle yoga can make a real difference over time.

👉 Have you ever tried yoga for strength, or do you usually think of it more for flexibility?

I’ve always loved mindfulness and meditation, they’ve helped me massively in the past with anxiety and depression. But I never really knew how to incorporate them into my diet.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been researching mindful eating and trying to put it into practice in my daily routine. It’s really helped me pause and check in with myself before I eat. Instead of eating out of habit or emotion, I’m starting to tune in to whether I’m truly hungry.

I’ve always struggled with emotional eating, and this simple change is already helping me feel more in control. 💛

👉 Have you ever tried mindful eating? I’d love to hear your experience!

When it comes to health and weight loss, most people focus on food and exercise… but one of the most powerful tools often gets overlooked: sleep 🌙✨

Good sleep helps to:
💤 Balance hunger + fullness hormones (making cravings easier to manage)
💤 Boost energy so you can move more and feel motivated
💤 Support metabolism and fat loss
💤 Lower stress + improve mood
💤 Strengthen your immune system and overall health

Poor sleep, on the other hand, makes everything feel harder — from managing cravings to sticking with healthy habits.

So if you’ve been trying to eat better and move more but still feel stuck, it might not be your willpower… it could be your sleep 💕

👉 Save this post as a reminder that rest is just as important as nutrition and movement.
