School bullying can stay with you into adulthood.

A 2025 narrative review looking at the impact of school bullying and mental health among adolescents, states:

“The negative mental health impact of bullying in adolescents is profound, affecting not only victims but also bullies and bystanders, leading to short-term and long-term consequences such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, and suicidal behaviours.”

👇🏼SOLUTION
Solution-focused approaches can help with bullying, by focusing on strengths and solutions, to improve kids mental, emotional & physical health.

A 2022 quasi-experimental study looking at “The effect of solution-focused approaches on adolescents’ peer bullying skills”:

These were six sessions focused on improving participants’ ability to cope with bullying.

After the solution-focused approaches, the scores on components of the Adolescent Peer Relationship Instrument (APRI) (bullying and victimisation) were significantly lower in the intervention group (p < .05)

Hypnotherapy for help with addiction

Scientific evidence suggests that learning-based therapeutic interventions that utilises neuroplasticity, alone or in combination with other treatment strategies, can be effective intervention for substance use disorders.

When people repeatedly use addictive substances such as ni****ne, alcohol, or drugs, it release significantly higher amounts of dopamine, than non-drug related rewards. But overtime, the brain becomes more resistant to dopamine, so as your cravings increase, the substance becomes less rewarding and you have to take more to get that same effect.

Improving neuroplasticity in addiction involves lifestyle changes like exercise and cognitive training, as well as therapies that encourage new neural connections, to boost brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), a protein that helps with neural growth and plasticity to allow for normal functioning after being damaged.

Solution-focused hypnotherapy harnesses neuroplasticity through hypnosis with solution-focused brief therapy techniques, and can be effective therapy for helping with substance use disorders.

How your heart can induce anxiety.

Neuroception tells you what’s wrong” - it’s an unconscious process where your nervous system scans your environment for cues of safety or danger, shifting your physiology into either a calm state, rest & digest, or survival states fight, flight, or freeze.

But if you have a history of trauma, or accumulated stress, it can become maladaptive, detecting threats even in neutral situations, leading to chronic anxiety & hypervigilance.

Interoception on the other hand, helps you notice & interpret signals from within your body, such as hunger, or feeling full, thirst, energy levels, pain, discomfort, or emotional cues such as tension, your racing heart, shallow breathing,, which the brain interprets as anxiety or anger.

Problems can happen with self-regulation, when you start to not recognise these signs, i.e. not realising you are hungry until you’re “hangry”, or getting overwhelmed until you flip your top.

This is why self-care is not merely a luxury, it is crucial to your mental health and overall well-being.

Need help with regulating your emotions through practicing self-care? Hypnotherapy can be a solution.

Do you find change difficult? This can be because the brain will always choose familiar chaos over unfamiliar peace. It’s an evolutionary survival mechanism to keep you safe.

If the unhealthy habit or stressful situation kept you alive yesterday, and the days, weeks, months, years before that, then you’re encouraged to do it over and over. This is why people can stay stuck in a toxic relationship or a job they hate, because it feels familiar or "normal", often rooted in past experiences

To break a habit using solution-focused approaches, we first get clear on your preferred future, and take small, manageable steps to build momentum. Focusing on what works and your strengths, rather than dwelling on the issue itself.

My clients are used to me asking them “what’s been good” at the beginning of every session, and there’s a very good reason I do this.

Focusing on the positive harnesses neuroplasticity to actively rewire the brain & change your physiology, strengthening neural pathways associated with optimism, resilience, and well-being 🧠

Depression and anxiety are associated with deficiency of neurotransmitters, but here’s THE GOOD NEWS your brain is not set in stone.

🧠Neuroplasticity tells us that when you change how you think, you strengthen neural pathways, increasing neurotransmitter production (serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine), literally changing your body & brain.

Neuroscience research has demonstrated that hypnosis, combined with talk therapy, to help you challenge & reshape negatively thoughts, visualising your best future, and taking small purposeful steps towards achieving that, induces neuroplastic changes in the brain, rewiring the limbic system.
