Today is World Mental Health Day. I have twice suffered from depression in my life. Several years ago, I used to leave work at 4pm, drive home, get into my house, close the curtains, lie on the floor and cry. I did that for a few months.
My recovery began when I spoke with my mum on the phone and opened up to her. I admitted how I was feeling. I was working 350km away but my mum said I should get in the car and come home. It was the best thing I ever did.
We should never be ashamed to speak when we don't feel ok. Speaking up gives others the opportunity to care. 🙏
