Did you know that on the morning of or day before a burial our Funeral Director Scott will go down to the Church or Cemetery to check the burial plot?

There are a number of reasons he does this some of which are outlined below;

* To ensure the plot has been prepared correctly (the headstone has been removed, the measurements are correct and it is in the right location)

* To carry out a risk assessment at the graveside (look for anything that may pose a slips, trips or falls risk, any access issues, check the condition of the ground - how it holds up under foot)

* To find the best route to the grave be it from a service location or from our Hearse.

* To speak with the gravediggers (if available) to discuss any additional requirements we may have or issues they have encountered whilst preparing the plot.

The below photo was taken this morning at Doddington Road Cemetery as Scott checked a plot ahead of a service John Drage Funeral Directors had earlier today.

This morning our Funeral Director Scott was joined at Park House Wellingborough by one of our Funeral Service Operatives Craig.

The pair of them spent a couple of hours assisting Janine, the activities coordinator as she got Park House ready for Christmas.

Whilst there, Scott and Craig helped to erect and decorate three Christmas trees, one of which was donated by ourselves.

In addition to the above and having recently visited Park House we became aware of the fact that the ground floor residents had an Alexa at the top of their Christmas list.

Well, despite a distinct lack of reindeer, red suits and white beards we delivered. This new Alexa now means that residents and staff alike can boogie on down to the Christmas tunes.

This morning our Funeral Director Scott was over at our Sister branch John Drage Funeral Directors, also in Wellingborough. There he was joined by some of the wonderul members of the Wellingborough Eco Group and The Wellingborough Wombles for a 'Two Hour Tidy Up' of Croyland Park and the surrounding area.

The far from ideal conditions did nothing to deter the troops or dampen their enthusiasm and, during the 90 minutes Scott and the team were litter picking they managed to collect the following.

- 40 Bags of Rubbish
- 5 Tyres
- 2 Clothes Horses
- 1 Television
- 1 Pram
- 1 Traffic Cone
- 1 Barrier Fence
- 1 Mattress
- 1 Trolley
- 1 Office Chair
- 1 Knife
- 1 Oil Drum

Following the litter pick The Croyland Chapel offered some brief respite from the elements and those in attendance enjoyed Croissants, Pan Au Chocolate, Celebrations, Tea, Coffee and Cans of Fizzy Drink.

It really is staggering just how much rubbish people discard and equally so how much of a difference was made this morning and in such a short period of time too.

A wonderful morning (despite the weather), spent with a fantastic community of people!

With Christmas just around the corner we are today launching our 2025 Christmas Gift Appeal In support of the Northamptonshire Children's Trust.

Northamptonshire Children's Trust help to support thousands of disadvantaged children and young people across the county.

This fantastic campaign led by Jeanette Walsh aka Mother Christmas used the donations they receive to ensure everybody they work with gets to open a brand-new present on Christmas Day.

This morning we helped a family say goodbye to their very own 'Little Miss Sunshine'. A deeply loved Mum, cherished Nan and treasured friend.

Kate Reneerkens was our celebrant and, as she always does she delivered a goodbye that really encapsulated the lovely lady and the wonderful life she lived.

Scott was our Funeral Director and he was joined by Connor on The Hearse, Nate and Craig on the limousines and Destiny who assisted.

A beautiful farewell at a sun kissed Doddington Road Cemetery.

From Monday 1st December and throughout this festive period, there will be a special Memorial Christmas Tree in our reception.

The Memorial Christmas Tree gives family and friends an opportunity to remember and pay tribute to their loved ones who have passed away.

We have, in the last week or so sent letters with memorial stars out to all of the families we have looked after over the past 12 months.

If you feel it is appropriate for you and your family then we invite you to place your own personal tribute on our Memorial Christmas Tree.

This past Thursday evening our Funeral Director Scott met with some of the staff and residents of Park House Wellingborough.

Scott was invited in to discuss funeral plans but, whilst there he also took the opportunity to dispel some myths surrounding the funeral industry and answer any questions regarding end of life planning and funerals in general.

Many meaningful conversations were had and Scott left with a whole list of ideas on how we as a funeral home can support Park House moving forward.

A lovely hour spent with lovely people 🙌🏻

This afternoon our Funeral Director Scott supported one of our Sister branches, Phillips Funeral Service in Corby.

Scott was joined by Connor, Craig, Mark and Nate, all of whom not only looked the part but also maintained fantastic levels of professionalism despite the far from ideal weather conditions.

As the service drew to a close Scott joined his good friend and today's celebrant Kate Reneerkens in leading a 120 strong congregation in the Macarena, a first for them both.

At 11:00 this morning our staff will stop to pause for a 2 minute silence.

This small symbolic gesture is our collective act of acknowledgement, show of respect and expression of deep gratitude to those brave men and women who sadly made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of our country.
