No two days are the same in care work and today was no exception!
Today’s adventure was trying to wrestle a jackdaw out of a chimney and through the patio door.
Pleased to report the operation was a success with only some minor fried nerves of both the bird and myself! 😂

Today was our final goodbye for this wonderful man.
I true “villager” having never left the road he was born in all his life.
Dylan’s and he shared a special bond as well as a mutual love for strawberry jelly!
A mischievous and lovable rogue who will leave a chocolate biscuit shaped hole in all our hearts. ♥️

Every day is different in my line of work.
An hour spent with a client litter picking her road today since she is no longer able to go on her own.

In the past 18 months I’ve seen a significant increase in the number of individuals advertising themselves as “home carers” on local social media sites.

I would implore anyone looking in to care for their loved one to do their own thorough research prior to making any decision.

Some things to consider are:
✏️ Do they have a current DBS check?
✏️ Do they provide their own PPE?
✏️ Do they have relevant qualifications such as NVQ, nursing or degree qualification?
✏️ Can they provide up to date and relevant references in the areas you require?
✏️ Can they cover the visits your require and have capacity to increase if the clients health needs change?
✏️ Do they have public liability insurance?
✏️ Do they have car business insurance to be able to safely transport the client?
✏️ Are they registered self employed with HMRC?
✏️ Do they regularly complete CPD courses to stay up to date?
✏️ If they have a social media page do they comply with GDPR.
