Hip replacement surgery is one of the best surgical procedures.. providing you do the rehab properly...I can help....
The most common cause for hip replacement surgery is osteoarthritis. You may be considered for a hip replacement if the joint is worn or damaged, or if pain and stiffness is restricting your mobility and having an impact on activities of daily living.
The hip joint is a ball and socket joint where the joint capsule is reinforced by ligaments. Between the surfaces of bone is cartilage which can wear away leading to the onset of osteoarthritis.
Hip pain can also be caused by other conditions such as bursitis, tendinitis, labral tears and other muscular issues so differential diagnosis may be required. X-rays can show the severity of osteoarthritis and determine the cause of action.
Prior to surgery physiotherapy is recommended to strengthen the muscles around the joint to help with recovery. This can also often reduce pain in the hip joint and sometimes even delay surgery.
Recovery time post surgery can take 3-6months to return to normal activities depending on the type of surgery, overall health and rehabilitation received.
