We welcome the Health Secretary’s announcement that the Department of Health and Social Care will lead the development of regulation for the funeral industry in England and Wales.

Work continues to progress at our new site in Newcastle, Great North Crematorium & Memorial Gardens, with strong momentum maintained through week 23.

Brickwork and blockwork are advancing well, now reaching the second lift, while scaffolding is nearing completion to support upcoming parapet and roofing works. External works are also progressing steadily, with additional road kerbing installed across the site.

Groundworks are moving forward, with muck shifting underway in preparation for the spring seeding plan. Topsoil is now being spread in readiness for seeding, and work has begun on the borders and stone pathways within the Memorial Garden. In the coming days, works to the lower-level roof are also set to begin.

It’s great to see the site taking shape as we move closer to the next phase of construction.

We’re pleased to announce that Babworth Crematorium will become our next SuperVenue, bringing immersive technology that enables families to create deeply personal and meaningful funeral services.

The chapel will temporarily close from Saturday 18 July, while state-of-the-art technology is installed, including immersive visual canvases, coordinated lighting and soundscapes, and enhanced welcome screens. The crematorium will reopen for services on Tuesday 4 August.

The SuperVenue concept, first unveiled in 2024, is transforming the way families can personalise funeral services, creating an atmosphere that truly reflects the life, passions, and personality of the person being remembered.

Babworth becoming our next SuperVenue marks another step in our commitment to bringing this innovative experience to more crematoria across the UK, with further locations planned later this year.

We’re excited to announce the launch of another SuperVenue for Westerleigh Group, here at Langstone Vale Crematorium and Memorial Gardens, the first in Wales.

From today, bereaved families have access to unprecedented levels of personalisation - service experiences that simply aren’t available anywhere else locally.

This innovation also helps keep more funerals within the community, supported by the dedicated care of local funeral directors.
