If you could do just one thing in your day, make it this: leave every person you see feeling a little better than they did before they met you.

A smile. A genuine "how are you?"
Holding the door.
A compliment given freely.

We move through our days with our heads down, lost in our own worlds and worries. But here's what I know from sitting with people in their hardest moments: everyone is carrying something. Everyone is fighting a battle we know nothing about.

And sometimes, a single moment of warmth from a stranger - a smile, a kind word, a moment of real human connection - can be the thing that shifts their entire day.
You have that power. We all do.
So this weekend, look up. Make eye contact. Smile at people. Give someone a moment of your time and attention.

I've been sitting with so many of you navigating sudden changes, job shifts and unexpected endings. Leaving you feeling as though the floor has been swept from beneath you.

When this happens we tend to grip tight, and control our way through uncertainty.

But what if we didn't?
What if, instead we became fluid ~ like water?

Water doesn't fight the obstacle. It flows around it, through it, over it. It finds its way without force. Its persistence and consistency outwins all its obstacles. Showing its subtle undeniable strength over the longest periods of time.

When we release the control, when we quiet the rushing thoughts that tell us we're not doing enough, fast enough, right enough,something.just. shifts.

We start to show up. We put ourselves out there. We take small steps.
And what comes back to us?
Exactly what's meant to find us.

This isn't about being passive. It's about being present. It's about trusting that when you move with openness rather than fear, the world meets you where you are.
From stuck to flow. From challenge to opportunity.

The parts of ourselves we hide in the shadow often hold our greatest wisdom.

Those tender places we avoid, the hurts we turn away from, they're not asking to be fixed or forgotten.

They're asking to be seen.

When we gently turn toward our wounds with curiosity instead of judgment, something shifts.
We begin to understand the stories they carry, the ways they've protected us, the strength that's been there all along.

This is where transformation lives, not in pushing pain away, but in bringing light to it.

The wisdom you gain from those wounds become apart of your strength.

Ever wonder why you do what you do? Why you make the choices you make, even when they don't always serve you?

Understanding what drives your behaviour is the first step to getting unstuck.

We all have 6 fundamental human needs that influence every decision we make:

Certainty πŸ€“ πŸ“‹ crave security, stability, and knowing what's coming next.

Variety πŸ€ͺ We need surprise, challenge, and new experiences to feel alive.

Significance πŸ₯° We want to feel important, special, and valued.

Connection/Love ❀️ We need to feel seen, heard, and deeply connected to others.

Growth ✨️ We're wired to learn, develop, and become more than we are.

Contribution πŸ™ŒπŸ» We find meaning in giving back and making a difference beyond ourselves.

The first four keep us surviving. The last two? They're what help us truly live life to its absolute fullest!

When you understand which needs are driving your patterns, you can shift what's keeping you stuck.

When something significant happens to us, our mind takes a snapshot πŸ“·

In that moment, we get a feeling in our body forming a belief, that turns into a behaviour. That belief and behaviour, whatever it is, gets created from this snapshot memory. Unconsciously.

Which means we're completely unaware of it.

As humans, when something causes us pain, we naturally try to stay clear of anything that could cause us that same pain again. It makes sense. It's protective. Thats called fear.

But here's what happens because of it: we start staying small. We develop negative mindsets. Some of us turn to alcohol or substances. We need constant distractions because we can't settle. We hold ourselves back in our careers, in our relationships, in our lives, all because somewhere deep down, we're afraid that something bad will happen.

Then boom, a decade or two maybe 3 have gone living in reaction to a snapshot from our past. Resulting in confusion/ sadness and feeling more lost than ever.

I believe we should live life to its fullest. No past hurt should stop us from that.

As a therapist, I help people understand these snapshots.
We bring awareness to the unconscious patterns, the feelings in your body, the behaviours you didn't even realise were connected to old pain.

And when you fully understand what happened and why, when you see it clearly, it loses its power over you. You stop reacting. You start living freely.

That's the work. That's what I see happen with my clients. Real freedom. Real change. Thats why I am passionate about my work πŸ₯°.

Taking just 5 minutes to ourselves each day can completely shift our energy for the day ahead.

So let's pause together. Right now, wherever you are, try this 5-minute mini reset:

Close your eyes. Take 3 deep breaths, breathe in calm, curiosity, and creativity.
Breathe out the tension, the stress, and those racing thoughts that keep pulling you in a thousand directions.
Now open your eyes and ground yourself in this moment:
Look for 5 things you can see around you
Notice 4 things you can touch
Listen for 3 things you can hear
Feel 2 sensations in your body
Recognize 1 thing you can taste

This simple practice brings you back to right here, right now. Not yesterday's worries. Not tomorrow's to-do list. Just this moment, where you have complete power.

Here's the magic part: 🎩 ✨️
Now that you're grounded and present, take a moment to visualise how you'd like to spend the rest of your day. What energy do you want to carry forward? What intentions do you want to set? Move forward more curiously than before, because the truth is, we are the creators of our days.

The festive lights are still glowing, and whether your Christmas was filled with joy or felt a little heavier than you hoped, you're still here. And that matters.
This time between Christmas and the New Year is sacred.
It's a gentle reminder that you don't need everything to be perfect to take the next step forward. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need you,your courage, your resilience, and your willingness to keep going.
Let go of what's been dimming your light. The disappointments, the losses, the "what ifs." They don't define your next chapter.

Try this to help;

Step 1 πŸ’« Awareness, becoming aware of the thought is the first thing.

Step 2 πŸ’«Get Curious, why am I focusing on this? What is this trying to tell me ?

Step 3πŸ’« Befriending the thought, you may be here and thats ok, but I am no longer that little girl that needs keeping safe. Showing care/compassion/curiosity/courage πŸ₯Ή πŸ₯° in the moment helps shift our state.

Step 4πŸ’« Replace your focus, future think here, life goal, year goal, what is your next step forward going to be?

The world is your oyster you are in control of the next steps.
