Coming together in community to hold space & have the important conversations.
Let's talk about endometriosis.
Last month I was invited to a screening of the endometriosis documentary ‘Below the belt’ & to sit on the panel for the after film discussion & community Q&A, by the Bristol greenway charity centre in collaboration with Bristol health partners.
Thank you so much to everyone connection made, the collective emotion & energy in the room was palpable. It was an honour to share both my in depth personal lived experience with endometriosis & professional experience & thoughts on supporting those with endo through a holistic lens.
The conversations were real & raw, some extremely all to familiar between the endo community & were sacred rage provoking.
Collective power, new perspectives & change can begin to happen when we come together for the difficult & pressing. When we witness it all.
So many of you that I talked with were speaking to the lack of information, support & continuity of care when it came to so many of your journeys.
Hearing of your personal experiences, I deeply feel we need a combination of the clinical & the holistic in synergy when it comes to understanding & managing endo. But most importantly a combination of what feels right for you & your sovereignty.
No bandaids for gaping wounds & no one size fits all approach - but a multiple layered medical, mind, body & spirit approach for this whole body systemic inflammatory disease.
Surgery is not a ‘fix all’, hormonal medications often leave individuals with severe & difficult side effects & are not conducive long term.
What about tending to trauma often obtained during appointments, surgeries & healing, where is the support for that?
What about inviting individuals back to their power, supporting their own wellness through herbalism, nervous system tending, therapy, nutrition & support circles - to name a few! This is the work that I love to offer my expertise on.
We deserve to be heard, supported in our agency & have all our choices respected when it comes to our healthcare & wellness.
If you are journeying with endometriosis, I see you & I hear you. 💛
