Well, here we are at the end of another week and here’s another post for you all. Whether you asked for it or not 😉.
This Fender is the blueprint of a classic strat for me. When looking at this I think . A very nice black strat, recently bought by the current owner, that came in for a setup and a noisy output. As part of the service I always inspect the electrics anyway, and I found a broken earth lead that I resoldered onto the tone pot. The noise however hadn’t gone so further investigation was needed! I found that the previous owner must have had an issue, because the live (hot) and earth wires going to the output jack were soldered the wrong way round. Also found the earth wire to the trek claw had come adrift. Once I’d sorted that, the guitar is now earth-buzz free. As it should be.
I’ve also cleaned and polished the neck and frets. Checked the frets to make sure they’re all level, adjusted the action and intonation and set the tremolo to be floating. The customer has had this back for a day and told me he’s very happy with the results, as you can see in his message to me;
Hi Dave, hope you had a good evening. Just to let you know, the guitar is completely different now you’ve sorted it out. It’s perfect, I’m really pleased. 👍
