We were delighted to welcome Annie and Dainty for another heart-warming visit — and they certainly didn’t disappoint! 🫏

They brought plenty of cuddles, laughter, and joyful moments to the people we support.

Their owner, Melony Llewellyn, shared a touching story: “My mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 50, and the donkeys triggered her speech. Seeing their faces light up — that’s what it’s all about.”

Annie, dressed in red, is 15, and Dainty, in blue, is 22. When they’re not busy spreading happiness, they enjoy life on a lovely farm in Portesham. And if you’re local, you might even spot them on Weymouth beach in the summer!

These beautiful animals bring truly special moments to the people we support, and we’re so grateful for their visits. 🥰

It was our Christmas party last week!

Lots of our colleagues came in on their day off to help out, which was a really lovely thing for them to have done, and very much appreciated by the people we support.

We celebrated with party food, cake and two singers. There was lots to drink, and singing and dancing were enjoyed!

Our manager, Tracy Rossiter is hosting a 'Meet the Manager' afternoon with tea and cakes from 2pm until approximately 4pm on Wednesday, October22.

It will be an opportunity for you to visit Streets Meadow, for Tracy to put faces to names and for people to meet her.

There will be entertainment and, of course, our wonderful residents and families will be joining.

We hope you can attend for even a short time and we look forward to meeting you!

We are overjoyed to welcome Tracy Rossiter as the new Registered Manager of Streets Meadow.

We’ll let Tracy introduce herself...

Tracy said: “Hello! It’s lovely to be here and – having just moved from Somerset to Dorset – I’m so grateful to my colleagues and the people we support for making me feel so at-home, so quickly.

“I’ve been a Registered General Nurse for over 40 years – I still have my original PIN number, issued by the Nursing and Midwifery Council!"

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲

Tracy added: “I’ve worked in the NHS – mainly operating theatres – and community nursing, followed by a long time as Custody Nurse Practitioner for Avon and Somerset Police.

“It was then I chose to enter nursing/dementia homes, and I’ve now been working in this sector for over 12 years.

“I chose Care Dorset as I like its ethos and its strategy to have nursing beds in relevant homes.

“But, strategy aside, once I’d walked around Streets Meadow I was so impressed by the residents and staff that it was clear this is where I’m meant to be – hopefully for a few years.”
