🌸 International Women’s Day 2026 🌸

Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and recognise the incredible women who make a difference in our community every single day.

At our surgery, we are proud to work alongside many dedicated women — from our GPs, anps, nurses, healthcare assistants and pharmacists to our reception, administration, med sec, cleaners and management teams. Their compassion, professionalism and commitment help ensure our patients receive the care, support and kindness they deserve.

We also want to acknowledge the women in our patient community — mothers, daughters, carers, colleagues and friends — whose strength and resilience inspire us all.

International Women’s Day is a moment to celebrate achievements, recognise contributions, and continue supporting equality, respect and opportunities for women everywhere.

East Durham Medical Group is looking for a Receptionist / Administrator to join our friendly and supportive team.

This is a great opportunity to work in an NHS GP practice, supporting patients and helping our surgery run smoothly.

💼 About the role:

You will be the first point of contact for our patients both at reception and over the phone. The role includes:
• Greeting and assisting patients
• Answering calls and booking appointments
• Responding to patient enquiries
• General administrative tasks
• Supporting the wider practice team

🌟 We’re looking for someone who is:
✔ Friendly and approachable
✔ Organised and able to work in a busy environment
✔ A strong communicator with basic IT skills
✔ A team player with a positive attitude

Previous GP surgery or healthcare experience is helpful but not essential – full training will be provided.

This is Emily she is a 17 year old female and she is suffering from UTI symptoms (urinary tract infection).

Emily is smart, she knows she doesn’t need an appointment with her GP — just a quick visit to her local pharmacy to see the pharmacist for fast advice, safe treatment of antibiotics and no waiting around.
